I don’t worry about that any more with this strong magnetic hold, doesn’t budge while running on the treadmill.The metal doesn’t even have to be flat. I use this on my patio umbrella stand (which is a two inch round pipe) and I don’t worry about it coming off.The swivel is strong enough to hold any position, but moderate enough to reposition the phone with one hand.I watch instruction videos while working on cars or in the workshop. This is a very good product in terms of its build quality. I expect this thing will last for a couple of decades, way longer than phones will be using magsafe mounts, I'm sure. After that, it will still be a solid choice for repositionable magnetic connector for whatever.My only complaint is design-related: the tiny neck means that head can be turned only about 70 degrees total from side-to-side, and less than that vertically. That still makes it useful for most use cases, but a tiny increase in the length of the neck would have made it even more useful. Not enough to subtract a star for.This will absolutely cling to any ferous metal you attach it to, and it will grip your phone like a mad-man. I wouldn't go offroading using any magsafe mount, but short of that, this will serve you well.

I've had problems getting the base to properly magnetize to surfaces and not want to fall off when attaching the phone, but the magsafe portion works as intended, and it even includes a magsafe adapter ring if your phone doesn't already support it.

This is an awesome little phone holder. All metal, super strong magnets, really compact. I can see no way to improve on this design, it’s perfect for holding my phone on the rig at the CrossFit box, and I can also use it in my van to hold my phone in various places where there is exposed metal. Perfect, zero improvements possible in my opinion.
