Worth every penny and more
Worth every penny and more. My autistic daughter has just turned 4 and we were in a state of dispair, we couldn't do anything with her! She would scream on a daily basis, not sleep, be up for hours in the night and wouldn't potty train. We are 3 and half months in now and she is a different child. Within a few weeks the screaming and melt downs became less frequent and have now stopped completely. She now rarely wakes at night and I am pleased to say she is very nearly potty trained. Her speech and communication have also improved hugely. I really wasn't expecting things to improve as much as they have and it has bought out family back together.

Unfortunately i dont stick strictly to the daily routine so results could be far better if i did massage every evening
Seeing improvements. Unfortunately i dont stick strictly to the daily routine so results could be far better if i did massage every evening. First thing i recognized as i started to do patting, he got calmer and settled faster. Still long way to go but i truly believe it helps with his asd. Thank you!

Really good
Very clear language, and with a dvd to help with doubts that we might have.It also includes a sensory and self-regulating check list, which is very usefull.

For children under 6 years but I am going to try anyway!
I looked at Qigong massage in action on YouTube before I purchased the book which comes with a DVD. The daily massage should be given for five months. The treatment has only had 'proven results' in children with autism under six years of age. The author states that there is 'no empirical evidence' to show that it works on older children. The author goes on to write, 'our expectations of the over-six group would be that the massage would be most successful with smaller, younger children'. I missed this bit of information before I bought the book. As my daughter is almost 12 years old perhaps this technique will not help her but I still think I would rather try in the hope that it does. The home program is clearly written. I found the question and answer style helpful eg 'What does it mean if my child starts kicking his legs when I do his belly?' There is a chapter on extra techniques to help your child get through the day which includes, helping your child to settle down when he is starting to wind up. There is so much information that I did not know and appreciate that it addresses children with autism. After five months I hope to review the book again. I hope to be able to write that my daughter had positively responded to the massage.

excellent book for therapists and parents wanting to use massage as a therapy tool.
An excellent book for massage therapists and parents. Gives very background information to the theory behind the massage and how it links to helping children with Autism and sensory deficits. Easy instructions to follow with DVD attached which perfectly how to the massage movement. Very good resources which I often refer to. Would highly recommended it as a therapy.

Interesting perspective
This looks great! Book gives a step by step instruction and DVD is great too! Needs the one doing the massage to be relaxed and positive
