These are actual chain links of real steel and just as sturdy as they should be. If you're using some for your own project and just need a few at a time, it's definitely cheaper to just cut your own from a chain. If you're using several on a job for someone else, it's significantly cheaper, faster, and easier than material plus labor to cut them yourself.
