Know what you're getting, and you're getting something great.
The blade is impressively sharp, and holds it's edge well. Sharpest I've ever seen, and I've seen and used many. The handle ergonomics and texture is amazing, the jimping is exemplary; this will never slip or twist in your hand. The lockup is rock solid, everything is incredibly solid and well made. It flicks open with a solid click, and drops closed with just gravity when the lock is pulled. Solid detent to stay closed, but it's easy to flick open and closed if you pull the lock back, and can be quickly flicked open using the hole with your thumb or middle finger. My only negative is that I prefer a low-ride clip (but, you can just buy one aftermarket, since Spyderco doesn't make it).In use, this is a perfect EDC. In my mind, that means it can do ANYTHING, and I have no doubt it can handle any task after putting it to use. It's on the thick and heavy side for EDC, but even in dress pants at the office, it's still what I choose to carry over my smaller and lighter knives. They make a lightweight version, but rock solid is worth the weight if you ask me.I'd trust this knife with my life, and that's the highest praise I can give.Edit: 3+ year update. Only needs to be sharpened about once a year. Still locks up solid with no wiggle at all, still perfectly smooth to operate, still haven't found anything better.

What a knife!
If what you are looking for is a well made and well finished out knife with premium steel you found it. Size IMO is medium/large. (I chose the all black). Though it came sharp out of the box I went ahead and mirror finished it. They sharpen very well. The lock mechanism being ambidextrous is a nice touch. I own many of their products this is one of my very favorites. This particular knife has the reputation it does for a reason. They have a solid build and everything is even and aligned. There are a ton of customizations out there for these. I would absolutely recommend Spyderco, this one in particular.

Very nice knife
I have owned several Syperco knives, and I love them all. This one has a beautiful appearance; it folds and unfolds quickly with just the right amount of resistance, and the blade is durable.

"One & Done" candidate -- A Great Knife
I've got a bunch of very nice knives, but if I could only have one, the Manix 2 would be my choice. It ain't pretty, but looks aside, it has a perfectly sized, do-everything blade, solid construction that is designed for hard work (sprung like a dump truck), good steel - sharp as a razor and easy to sharpen - and arguably the best locking system on the planet. I'm not sure what more you could ask of a pocket cutting tool. Other knives have many of these features, but to my knowledge, no other has the ball-bearing locking system of the Manix 2. Yes the spring is tight- but it will break in. If you want a fidget toy, then buy a plunge lock. If you want superb strength that you can depend on, buy it, break it in and use it.

Sharp, and ergonomic
This knife, as an EDC, will make its presence known in your pocket. It's not teeny tiny, neither is it too large. The blade with the fabled S30V steel is incredibly sharp out of the box- slices into things with ease and effortlessness. The feel in the hand is very good and substantial- no sacrifice with aesthetic superfluity nor any nod towards hipster curb appeal. This knife does the job, and does it well. The pocket clips needs time to be worked into and is initially a bit stiff and might fray more delicate denim material if taken in and out several times a day. All in all, top notch Spyderco design philosophy and pragmatism.

Worth every penny
I have owned many pocketknives over the years. However, none of them have been manufactured in the USA lately. So, I bought a few US made knives to see if the quality and price were worth it. Let me say this knife is the best made and sharpest knife I have ever owned. In short it is like driving a Mercedese versus driving a tin can Kia automobile. The fit, finish, balance, all of it outstanding. But the most readily identifiable difference is cutting with this knife. It pierces and cuts cardboard like paper. The lack of force required to puncture or cut anything is truly remarkable. While I realize that the price is too high for some, if you work with a knife or carry a pocketknife and can afford it, absolutely buy this knife. Of the three assorted brands of US made knives I bought, all excellent, this one stood out as the top one. It was also more expensve by about 3 times as the others.
