Will not pick up 20 lbs.
This is a nice tool, but I have a few issues after testing. It does not hold 20 lbs. see picture of 20 lbs, I tried to pull up the weight a few times and the magnet did not hold. On the 4th pull the handle came off.I will keep the item but manufacturer needs to make sure that magnet pics up 20 lbs if advertising that weight. Also the rubber handle should be glued with a high quality adhesive so that it won’t come off.

Broke within 4 hours of opening.
Within 4 hours of using it (hardly any use in those 4 hours) it came apart when trying to pick up a bolt.... very disappointed in this quality. I never expected it to last a lifetime. A year, maybe if I'm lucky... but 4 hours?

Do Not Buy This...
The handle broke off of this item the first time I used it to grab a dropped bolt in an engine bay. Trying to use it for exactly the reason I bought it proved to be too much for it I guess. I was hoping it would be as sturdy as the old standard of no lights, just grabber. BUT NO, the handle fell apart in my hands on my first squeeze to retract a fallen bolt. I didn't care to file a claim as I'm not sure another would be any better and I just grabbed my old, no L.E.D. one and a flashlight, which still hasn't broken over the many years I've had the thing.Do yourself a favor and just don't. Get one of the oldie but goody ones and use a flashlight.

Handyman's Lifesaver
Face it: you're going to drop screws, allen wrenches, washers, and myriad other metal objects when you're installing or repairing things around the house. A telescoping or long-reach magnet is a necessity for retrieving these things from places your hand won't fit or can't reach. This PARTICULAR tool is better than most - it's durable, flexible, can reach around corners, and the magnet is strong. The addition of a built-in light is just genius, to boot, obviating the necessity of a separate flashlight. This is the sort of tool that can save a lot of time and reduce frustration; you won't need it every time, but when you do you'll be REALLY glad you have it.Bonus use: if you're like me and have back issues, this can make cleaning up after a project easier since you won't need to bend over to pick up anything that might have ended up on the ground - the magnet is strong enough to pick up most hand tools (it's not going to lift a sledgehammer, but it's still really convenient and helpful).

Can’t beat the functionality!
Love this light so far. It’s not going to blow you away with the brightness but it’s functionality is great. I’ve used this to pick up screws and other stuff that were accidentally dropped into tight spaces. I was able to bend the neck and use the light to spot the item I was looking for and pick it up.I did drop it once on the concrete from a few feet up and the light did not break. So far I have no complaints and would highly recommend this light for personal use or as a gift.

This tool is just what the doctor ordered
This tool was exactly what the doctor ordered. I was attempting to remove the distributor gear from a VW type 4 engine, and it was being very stubborn, I had attempted to remove it by turning the engine upside down, it is on an engine stand, to see if it would fall out, but it was in there. Then I got the idea of using a magnet to get at it, it is recessed in the block, about 3 inches, so I scoured the garage, and found my box of magnets, and attempted it again, still no luck. That sucker was in there. I ordered a neodymium bar magnet, thinking that should do it, they were super strong, still no luck. Then, I found this tool, so I figured, "what the heck" I will give it a shot, since the next step was to split the cases to get it out. 5 minutes after the driver delivered it, I had the gear out. This tool has some serious power, it also has a large surface area. Needless, to say, I was pleased. So if you need a powerful magnetic pick-up tool, this is the one to get.The only that I can think of that would make it perfect, is if the telescoping wand, had some way to lock it and the length you need, as I attempted to pull the gear out, it telescoped to it's full length, which is not a big deal, but still it would be nice

Perfect Mechanics Magnet
Same thing you find on the tool truck, just a quarter of the price and not able to be warrantied by your snappy dealer.Went to Harb Freight to get a replacement and they apparently discontinued them, according to the clerk. Next step, Amazon. Pretty sure they all come from the same place, China. I’m ok with that, as long as I’m paying China tool prices.Great little magnet with plenty of strength. A must have for any mechanic. This is especially nice for pulling the inner parts out of motorcycle front tubes without disassembling the entire fork. My recommendation is to buy two at a time since it will get used and abused and/or lost and they’re cheap enough. One for work, one for home.
