Absolutely amazing
The best single player game I’ve played since red dead2. It can be very difficult at times but the satisfaction you get after beating a really hard boss is amazing 10/10

**8.4/10 It Opens-Up on 2nd (Desert) Map, Not 'Closed-Off'/Restricted Like the 1st (Jungle) Area!**
Things to keep in mind when it comes to this game, especially in comparison to other Soulslike/Soulsborne games, is that, although it consists of the core mechanics that are the foundation of what makes a Soulslike/Soulsborne game what it is - it does feel & play exceptionally 'different' in terms of movement and, mainly, the combat dynamics... they are much different in terms of every other game in this sub-genre variant with many distinct aspects that make it unique in distinctive ways... The first thing you will notice, is that, combat is generally a lot 'faster', with it's completely different playstyle, crazy combos and movesets that differ greatly as opposed to your usual Souls game. Each time you 'level up' your stats, you have a more combat-oriented skill-tree based system that allows you to unlock new moves, features, skills, damage outputs, etc.. plus you have your limited and minimal, health + stamina pools that are a less-focused area when increasing stats. (It is more like Skyrim skill-trees than Souls levelling). That being said, you still have the basic, health, stamina, dodge (and chained roll/flip), 'souls' from enemies, weapons, armour, 'bonfires' (shrines), (standard) enemy respawn, 'souls-drop upon death' mechanic, and many other core aspects/mechanics of a Soulslike game... As it is based on the 'Monkey King's' world and you play as a monkey following in his footsteps (without spoilers), you can expect it to be more situated around that area of mythology, namely his unique skills - that can be unlocked (awakened) as the game progresses and you level-up. Expect difficult bosses, challenging elite enemy fights and skill-based, forced playstyles as you encounter each area; they each have their own unique 'spirit' skills that can be absorbed for later use (and levelling) but only one can be selected per life. You have different buildable weapons as you reach certain points in the game + each armour can have unique attributes/stats depending on how many of a similar set-piece you equip (that unlocks further attributes/stats). The different stances you unlock will offer new, varied moves that can be utilised for many scenarios with some dealing higher damage while others being more effective. It has a rich lor, deep-rooted in mythology that stays true to it's nature throughout - offering comprehensive and detailed codex information pertaining to each individual element + lore. There are more elite enemies/mini-bosses than some other Souls games and each boss has it's own combat style + skills that keeps things interesting. The first main area initially feels way too 'closed-off', like very small, restricted walkways/direct-route areas that are narrow and force single/double path designs, BUT, although this put me off, massively the first time I played it, I saw a comment elsewhere about this that prompted me to try the game again, in a new light and was NOT disappointed as the second main area, after completing the whole of the first map (I thought that was it), the game completely OPENS-UP into a massive, open-world area style design that offers much more FREEDOM and sparse maps that the first one does NOT do it any justice!.. The game becomes much more interesting after you travel to the desert biome (second map area) and that leads me to believe that the entirety of the first map is simply a large tutorial zone, designed to introduce you to the core mechanics + elements whilst still retaining most of it's difficulty - trust me, it gets so much better, the enemies become VERY diverse as you progress - I honestly stopped playing for a while after about half an hour to an hour of playing when I first tried it and then saw some comments online about this, so I took the gamble and tried again and found myself playing for hours every day afterwards!! It still feels a little too expensive (originally capped at £50) but is still a fairly new title... the graphics are okay, not spectacular, but not crap, they're pretty good, some areas look amazing. I will say that it took some tweaking with my pro monitor to get it to run smoothly because my monitor is designed for 120fps games, so I recommend playing on 'performance', it is much, much smoother as the framerate drops on the other modes. (Although the graphic are a lot sharper on the other graphics/balanced modes). I will say that it is definitely worth playing if you have exhausted all of the other Soulsborne + Soulslike games but want to try a different style - it is more like 'The First Berserker Khazan' than the others (in terms of faster-paced combat, levelling/skill-tree elements, armour attributes, etc..). Weapons are relatively restricted as it is based solely upon the 'Monkey King' and his choice of 'Hanbo'-stye of weapon choice and revolves around his particular lore mechanics/skills. The very first thing you do in the game is fight as the Monkey King himself, with all of his stances + skills unlocked before you start the actual game as a different 'monkey' - which is all part of the storyline that introduces the game's atmosphere + dynamics. It certainly had a lot of hype and then seemed to become somewhat 'invisible', like a ghost, when it first released, which was 'interesting' to say the least... I found a lot of 'mixed' reactions/feedback in terms of it's gameplay - which is where I then found out about the game DRAMATICALLY [changing] IMPROVING after the first area/map is progressed - I was so incredibly sceptical the whole time I first tried it based solely on the first area! I was so glad I had found that other people had a similar reaction! Worth a try, it is a good game - takes some time to get into but you just have to STICK WITH IT for a while before it starts to get really good!

Game that got me back to gaming
Honestly this game got me back to gaming. Even though I have only played 2 hours so far, I am already wondering when I can get time to play the game! The monsters I have been up against so far have been interesting and have cool designs. It's not as hard as other souls like games so far (I'm sure I'll regret that later), but still enough of a challenge to casual gamer like me where I feel victorious up against a Yaoguai. Sure the graphics aren't the best and even in performance mode the frames targets 60fps not locked. But, I am enjoying it. Definitely worth the wait for this physical one in comparison to the digital one.
