Cheap dropper post that works
got this to try a dropper post to see how it would feel without having to spend the big bucks of a hydraulic one. ( this is mechanical) . This has 3 stages full up, half way and completely down. You need to watch ( Which I hadn't considered) that the full up position isn't to high for normal riding ( which it was for me) so I had to change my saddle and trim down the spacing collar and I eventually got it to fit. Unless your bike takes a skinny seat post you will need to buy a spacing collar to make this fit. The seat does wobble slightly which I have deducted a point off but it's nothing to drastic. I adapted very quickly to it keeping it up full when riding and popping it down halfway for downhills and way to the bottom if I thought I had to scrape my foot around a berm or some serious steep downhill.

Great post for the money
This is a great piece of kit at an affordable price. It's the third one I have purchased now and fitted to family members bikes with no problem. Smooth operation and great amount of travel. Just beware that this item was listed as 360mm but is infact the 440mm one which fitted my bikes OK but could be an issue if you are a smaller rider.

As best as I can tell Raleigh no longer warranty this ...
nowhere near as smooth as a reverb, but the only dropper i could find for a 27.9 seat-tube. cable tension adjustment is very important - too slack and it won't disengage, too tight and it won't stay latched in the lower positions causing the seat to rise unexpectedly. needs to be thoroughly cleaned if mud/dirt has got into it but it has relatively simple and robust innards. As best as I can tell Raleigh no longer warranty this product so if it goes wrong then you're stuffed.

Double check the size with the seller.
This is the second time I have ordered this product (once through amazon and once through ebay and both from very large established internet retailers) and both times the newer, different and (crucially) too large 30.9mm version has been supplied. Which looks great, but won't fit in my bike: I'd suggest that any buyers double check with the individual sellers that what they will supply is actually the correct size.

decent value item if you need a narrower post
The cable remote spring is too stiff, but can be replaced. The manufacturer customer service is non existent though

Does what advertised, had difficulties using the internally routed wire for it, but managed.
