Kelly Creates Small Brush Workbook

I'm new to hand lettering and this is the best purchase I've made to date.* it starts at the very beginning - with simple lines and curves, and gives you plenty of room to practice those* descriptions and instructions are clear and concise* Book advances nicely to more complex shapes and letters - and still gives you plenty of room to practice* with the tracing paper, you can start by tracing the shapes if that helps, then progress to creating the shapes by your own hand* the sturdy cover and spiral binding makes it easy to use the book anywhere (on your lap in the car, or to practice outdoors, etc. The spiral binding always lays flat.I purchased extra tracing paper after I filled the book up, and can still use the book with my own paper. Now that I'm more experienced, I still return to the book for regular practice.

This is the workbook to buy if you are beginning to learn brush lettering. I love the spiral design and the heavy duty cover. The pages are quality paper with three sheets of blank tracing paper for each lesson. And you can always use more tracing paper you have on hand if you need it. After watching many You Tube videos and doing a lot of browsing for a good “workbook” I chose Kelly’s and am so glad that I did. She is a great instructor and has supplied a great resource with these books. I have both the large and the small size lettering books and love them both. Thank you Kelly for this great resource!

Get this book if you want to focus on learning one style of brush lettering (using small brushes) through repetition and muscle memory. Of course this is a tried and true method and it works if you stick to it. The book can be used again and again by using the letters for tracing on clean sheets of tracing paper or using a lighting pad under rhodia or any smooth paper. Would be nice if there were multiple styles demonstrated or if letter connectors were taught but this is definitely a beginner book to get you going with brush lettering.

I love this book. I would give it five stars except it needs two more pages--one that shows all the lower case letters and one that shows the upper case letters. If you want to find a letter, you have to search through the whole book and the lower case letters are not in alphabetical order so it's hard to find them.But this book will really get you started.

Great little teaching tool, but for easy reference there needs to be a page of all 26 uppercase letters and another of the lowercase letters. For ease of use, tabs would be nice or perhaps a table of contents. When you want to find a particular letter, it is nearly impossible to find because they are not in alphabetical order.

If you want to get better with your hand lettering, Kelly Creates practice book will really help. Love the simplicity of the book and her step by step approach to hand lettering. Highly recommend it if you're a beginner or have been hand-lettering for some time and needing to help that muscle memory along.

I love that the workbook had plenty of practice exercises to get you started. I ordered extra tracing paper, just in case I needed it, but so far I haven't. This is a fabulous way to learn brush lettering.

I bought a few of her workbooks and am very pleased with them. Great quality.
