Gravity Cakes!: Create 45 Amazing Cakes

Every year I end up paying up to $100 for a boring catalog cake from the supermarket for my kids’ birthdays. Something more exciting from a real bakery costs even more. Ridiculous.So I decided to look into doing something myself. I suck at baking (or so I thought), and so I needed recipes that were easy, and yet yielded impressive results.This beautiful book has exceeded my expectations in every possible way. The first gravity cake (pouring candy) I made came out absolutely perfectly, it looked just like it did in the pictures. My kid was so excited, and the other Moms couldn’t believe that I made it myself. I am already planning on making the Thanksgiving one to take to my family this year.- The book itself is really nicely made – it’s a fun book to have in the kitchen. The pictures and design are awesome.- The directions are so easy to follow, if you just take your time, anyone can make the cakes.- The results are incredible – every cake I’ve ever tried to make before turned out to be a giant blob covered in icing. These cakes are in many cases easier than a normal square cake because you are sticking things like candy onto the cake and so it looks more impressive and it’s pretty much impossible to mess it up.- Finally, the cakes taste as good as they look!I really cannot recommend this book highly enough. If a terrible baker like me can get amazing results, you can too. Give it a try!

There are more than enough ideas for inspiration for gravity cakes here. The instructions seem very easy to follow. I can't wait to get started on s-i-l's birthday cake, a Halloween cake and a Christmas Cake. What fun !

Cool cakes very inexpensive

Love this book! So much creativity and very descriptive along with step by step pictures. I found it helpful and makes for a fun girls night to experiment with different ways to bake!

NOT for intermediate to advanced bakers looking to expand their skills. This book is good for kids. The cakes are sloppy and most use the same technique for the gravity effect. Would not recommend

I like the pictures and it is very detailed. It also includes tips. I used it to make a beer mug. Can’t wait to try the bubblegum one.

I saw this advertised and thought I'd buy it for ideas for my grandson's birthday party. He's now eight and thought my cakes were "boring". I followed the recipe for the beach cake as we live near the sea. It was very easy to follow the clear instructions and the photographs that show each step make the construction of the finished cake almost foolproof.My grandson and his friends were amazed by the cake and my other grandchildren have already started looking for the cakes they want for their birthdays! I particularly like that if you are not a particularly keen baker you can use your favourite shop bought cake, provided the size is right. It's much more about being good at following the easy directions for decorating and constructing the fantastic special effects.I love this book and would certainly recommend it to anyone who enjoys making spectacular birthday and celebration cakes without spending a fortune.

Ive bought many baking books in my time but this one is easy to follow with clear and concise instructions ranging from easy to difficult, so you can rustle up a quick gravity cupcake for afternoon tea or make a show stopping cake for a special occasion! Some of the designs look so real its hard to believe they are just cakes! My new go to baking book!
