Product Description Three-time Oscar-nominated Danny Elfman, one of Hollywood's most in-demand composers, continues his long-standing collaboration with innovative director Tim Burton for the soundtrack to the stop-motion animated feature Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. Warner. 2005. .com Did composer Danny Elfman have enough juice for two movies by Tim Burton in a single year? His first 2005 outing, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is one of his all-time best, and the songs he wrote for each of that film's children are marvels of satirical invention. A few months later, both Burton and Elfman are back with The Corpse Bride, a stop-motion animated film in the vein of The Nightmare Before Christmas. This time it feels as if Elfman may have overextended himself. The composer has fun with Gothic atmospherics, (when in doubt, you can't go wrong with either a harpsichord or an organ) but the instrumentals feel a bit perfunctory. The best part about the album is hearing Elfman's ditties performed by a gaggle of top British actors such as Albert Finney, Joanna Lumley and Tracey Ullman on "According to Plan," and Helena Bonham Carter (surprisingly touching) and Jane Horrocks on "Tears to Shed." Elfman himself sings "Remains of the Day," a tune that tries just a little too hard to be zany; zaniness is achieved more subtly on the fourth and last vocal track, "The Wedding Song," a clever pastiche of light operetta. But it's on the last four tracks, credited to Bonejangles and His Bone Boys, that Elfman finally sounds as if he's having fun, letting loose with casual New Orleans-style jazz. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Was looking for this soundtrack
Danny Elfin and Tim Burton are longtime collaborators and they are pretty much in tune with each others wishes as to the sound and direction a movie should take. Danny's piano music for this Cd is worth its price. It is lovely and sadly associated with the eerie tales Tim Burton brings to life. That is why I bought the Cd for those piano pieces, which are wonderful to hear. Danny recreated the sound of the time period, a world without radio o TV or stereos. Music came solely from an instrument usually placed in the parlor of a home: a piano, an organ, a harp, a guitar or other plucked instrument waiting by a wall. I recommend it.. Listen to it as MUSiC, and you won't be disappointed.

Awesome buy!
Corpse Bride is my favorite Burton film and I have always loved the music in the movie. So much so I wanted to buy it. The price was good and the quality was great! Came in perfect condition not a scratch on the case or the CD itself.

As with so many other soundtracks, this one is somewhat disappointing outside the context of the movie, itself. BUT, it is good. What is notable about this CD are the extra tracks that run during the credits (I think). If you enjoyed the music during the movie, you will enjoy this CD. Whether or not you will enjoy it enough to warrant buying it is a different question; maybe not.

Coolness
Well it's Danny Elfman so obviously I could never give him anything less than a five. Like most music he has composed for Tim Burton films, the Corpse Bride soundtrack has a wintery, eerie, and haunting sound; creepy angelic choir and everything. My only complaint is I wish there were more songs with actual lyrics in them, like "According To Plan", "Tears To Shed", "The Wedding Song" and "Remains Of The Day." The purely intrumental songs are great too but those are my favorites. "According To Plan" is exceptionally catchy. I wouldn't recommend listening to it at all unless you can deal with it getting stuck in your head for about three days afterwards.

Enchanting
After viewing Corpse Bride ( which I bought by accident ) the score to the film was so enchanting and lovely I had to get the CD. Well worth the money. My only regret is the some of the soundtracks have vocals & I was hoping for all instrumental

But it was "as advertised" and some of them are very good.
Some of the styles are not what you might expect. But it was "as advertised" and some of them are very good.

Lovely Melodies
I loved the film, (and have it on DVD) and I thought the soundtrack to the film was brilliant, so I bought the CD of the soundtrack to add to my collection. :-)Danny Elfman wrote some great melodies and songs for this film, (just like he's done for other soundtracks in the past)

Enchanting and funny
I bought this on the strength of wanting to have a recording of the two piano pieces and it is just wonderful, the elegaic pieces are deeply moving and the funny songs are delightful.
