Fun series
I picked this DVD up (series 1) and never heard about it. It's a twist of "Tales for the Darkside" and Skin-a-Max. So if your into horror its a must see.

Try Before You Buy...
I don't know how helpful my review is, as I haven't seen the first collection and I bought this series only for the fact that David Bowie hosts it; a brief yet insightful opening and resolution by David each episode, plus actually staring in one, so in regards to what I was expecting, I got what I wanted. But more than likely, you're expecting more from this series than me.My advice is; don't go in with too much expectation. If you're after intricately written storyline and chilling horror, then this leaves much to be desired. If you're after lots of sex, cheap 90's graphics, and choppy editing, than this might be more to your tastes...Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy some of the series. There are a few well-written episodes that do leave you feeling a little uncomfortable, but it's not for the scares so much as it is for the shame you feel at humanity. That's one thing this series does deliver; an insight into the sins of humanity and what drives us to do the things we do. Lust and greed are the key sins explored. It's not scary, more a series to creep you out, or get you horny, or both.Because each episode is directed by a different person, the styles of storytelling change dramatically from one episode to the next, which can be irritating, especially as the quality of some episodes leaves you thinking "Are they serious with this?", but there are some episodes in between these worth the wait. And if you don't like those stories either, they're good for a laugh. My advice is, look up the series on the web and watch a few episodes before you buy it, so you don't feel too disappointed. For the hardcore Bowie fans like me, I advise you to do the same. It's not worth buying for the ten minutes you get of David each episode.

Like Tales from the Crypt
This is a hoot! Like Tales from the Crypt, but with some spiciness thrown in. Terrance Stamp and David Bowie host the two seasons (Stamp season one). Glad I found this while surfing Amazon. The short episodes make it easy to watch when pressed for time. If you like some creepiness mixed with camp and sex, this is a good one to watch.

I like it
It's an interesting show, it's definitley different from most things on television. The plot is hard to follow in a few episodes and are often very suspenseful.

few actual stories, but much nudity and gore -- boring
If you're only seeking nudity, you might like The Hunger TV series (which has nothing to do with the movie of the same name). This series was marketed as an "exploration of hunger in all its forms" -- hunger for sex, food, money, power, etc.NOT!The marketing is a lie. The producers or story editors, or whoever, had no imagination. Most of the episodes seem to go for gratuitous sex, nudity, and graphic violence. Most of the "stories" make NO attempt to tie in with the "hunger" theme of the title. Hell, many of the episodes have NO story. That's right. Many of these episodes are vignettes rather than stories. Slices of life. Profiles of some sleazebag or other. This series is not only distasteful, it's boring. Some beautiful photography, good production values, but weak or no stories. Ugly characters (ugly on the inside).I've seen TONS of horror anthologies, both on film and TV -- and this series is the poorest excuse for a horror anthology I've ever seen.

If you're a Bowie fan and haven't seen this then you should
I really enjoyed this series, don't know why it's not better known. The episodes vary in quality but they're all watchable. Cross between Black Mirror and Tales of the Unexpected.

Good, but not quite up to the standard of the first series
The second series of Ridley and Tony Scott's TV series is good but in comparison to the first series, in my opinion, it falls a little short. The first episode here Sanctuary introduces David Bowie as a performance artist, he returns to host the rest of the series. There are some great episodes, Replacements, Wrath of God, The Suction Method (which is both funny and erotic), Week Woman, The Falling Man, Sin Seer and a couple of others stand out; most of the others are good but lack a little something special.Once again it features work by some of the best fantasy writers. This series features stories by Poppy Z.Brite, Tanith Lee and Ramsey Campbell. This series is probably darker than the first one and the tales are still visually brilliant but, many years down the line, almost all of my favourite episodes can be found in the superb first series. That said, as a whole the Hunger was a great piece of innovative television and is well worth watching again.N.B. The documentary here is the same as that on the series 1 disc.
