The updated parts fit very well. I chose not to use the motorizing kit that was part of the Marble Spaceport as I didn't much care for it using button batteries. I decided against the light set that was included too. However, operating it with 'the hand crank on Marble Night City is a better option, that way you can check for and fix any problem areas. Just be patent and turn the crank slowly.

Impressive when connected together. Advice - Don't install the motor on the original kit. You have to remove it to add this expansion pack.

I realized before I bought it that the toy motor wasn't going to drive both model runs but I bought it anyway because I love building these things. The motor drives one run okay but not a chance it will drive both with all that resistance against it. I figured at the outset that I could just forget driving it with the motor and operate it by using the hand crank but I can't even do that because the gears bind so I now have two marble runs that don't work! 😩 It was fun building it, though and I can return it to the original configuration of separate runs 😆

I love puzzles and a challenge. The marble run and add on took about 36 hours to put together over time.Pros: it’s a great challenge and fun to put together. The marble run also is fun to watch once it’s completed.Cons: some of the prices are small and fragile. I had to glue some pieces back together in order to fix breaks. I only had about 4 total broken pieces. You have to be patient when separating the pieces from the sheets of wooden pieces they come in.Some of the fits are difficult and it’s not always clear what direction the piece is supposed to go.The completed puzzle takes some tinkering to ensure everything is aligned and lubricated properly. It can be fiddly but doesn’t ruin the fun.Neither package came with the wax for lubricating the cogs although it said it was included. You can use old birthday candles so it wasn’t a big deal.If the wax was included, and some of the parts were not so easy to break I would have rated the marble run a 5.

The motor does not have enough torque to overcome the friction of one of the marble runs let alone both combined. The tension on the timing belts is excessive and and only adds to the friction that the motor has to overcome.Save your money, unless you plan to tinker the heck out of this to get it to work.

This kit is needed to link sets together. The support structure is strong. The issue is the motor is not strong enough to operate the sets. I am working on how I can replace the motor with a stronger one.

Disappointing, after using this kit to join the two marble runs, the motor isn’t strong enough to power both of them. I can crank it by hand but that’s not as much fun.

I got this to work, but as others have said, the motor is just too weak to drive both puzzles. Mine ran smoothly, but so slow as to make certain mechanisms inconsistent. Even when I got it to operate somewhat evenly, it was kind of like watching grass grow. Not terribly exciting.I seached online in vain for a motor that would provide more power and conform to the kit's size and speed requirements. No luck at all! It happened that I had a 12v 60rpm motor that I had used to power the Marble Night City (which does not come with a motor). I modified it to connect to the combined system driving both puzzles and it worked great. It now works the way the kit should work had the supplied motor from Spaceport been suitable.
