Seems to be working
Pretty light formula - not sticky. It seems to be working on reducing the size and tone of my sun damage dark spots. They get a little dry then when fresh skin appears the spot seems smaller. Not very scientific :)

Chemical Sunscreen with Melasyl
This Kiehl's Auto-Tone Discoloration & UV Solution with SPF 30 is a chemical sunscreen with avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate and octocrylene. I normally use reef safe sunscreen, but I was interested in this formula because it contains niacinamide, which is one of my favorite skincare ingredients, and Melasyl (2-mercaptonicotinoyl glycine), which is a buzzy new proprietary ingredient to target dark spots and protect against them. This sunscreen has a slight tint, but it blends well on my medium light skin. This won't take the place of zinc sunscreens for me, but it's something I will try on days where I'm trying to look my best. Here are the ingredients from the brand website, since I can't find them in the listing. Remember that they are subject to change, and be sure to check the box you get for the latest.ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: AVOBENZONE 3% HOMOSALATE 10% OCTISALATE 5% OCTOCRYLENE 7%COSMETIC INGREDIENTS: WATER C15-19 ALKANE NIACINAMIDE GLYCERIN BUTYLENE GLYCOL SILICA TITANIUM DIOXIDE HYDROXYACETOPHENONE PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRA-DI-T-BUTYL HYDROXYHYDROCINNAMATE POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE SODIUM THIOSULFATE TARAXACUM OFFICINALE (DANDELION) RHIZOME/ROOT EXTRACT TRISODIUM ETHYLENEDIAMINE DISUCCINATE 2-MERCAPTONICOTINOYL GLYCINE BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER AMMONIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYLTAURATE/VP COPOLYMER ARACHIDYL ALCOHOL ARACHIDYL GLUCOSIDE BEHENYL ALCOHOL CAPRYLYL GLYCOL CARBOMER CITRIC ACID MICA PENTYLENE GLYCOL POLY C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE POLYGLYCERYL-4 CAPRATE SODIUM DILAURAMIDOGLUTAMIDE LYSINE TIN OXIDE XANTHAN GUM RED 4 PHENOXYETHANOL

More uniform skin tone
After years of being on the swim team, my face took quite a beating from the sun and chlorine. It doesn’t look awful (thanks to the chlorine stopping break outs) but the sun would sometimes give me that lobster look. This has helped even out some of the discoloration by bringing a more uniform look over time.

Dual-purpose sunscreen
I was curious about Kiehl's Auto-Tone Discoloration & UV Solution with SPF 30, Color Corrector Serum to Reduce Sunspots and Protect Against UV Damage, Radiant Finish. I've used dual-purpose sunscreens before, but they're usually a moisturizer and sunscreen, and I usually don't like them as well as a separate moisturizer and sunscreen. As a sunscreen, I like this. It is a chemical sunscreen and I prefer physical sunscreen (which is also made of chemicals, being somewhat of a misnomer), but it worked well to protect my skin in direct sunlight and didn't break me out. It doesn't have the greasiness of some sunscreens. It does contain titanium dioxide, which is a physical sunscreen ingredient, but I suppose it doesn't contain enough to actively provide protection.I have younger skin, so I don't have much concerns with dark spots, but I do have a few small spots of uneven skin tone, usually where there's a small acne scar. I haven't noticed much difference, but I've only been using this for a week. This sunscreen does feel soothing, at least, and doesn't contain fragrance, which can irritate skin.I have slightly sensitive combination skin. This works well for me as a sunscreen.

Seems to work!
I've been very intermittent with applying this to the faint age spots that I recently noticed for the first time on my hands. Before I used it, I checked in with a friend who is a professional esthetician with many years of experience. Her practice is focused on natural, holistic skin care. I don't know much about this area and wanted to make sure I wasn't applying something that might be effective but bad for me. She gave it her full blessing. I haven't had any irritation and it has a pleasant, very mild scent. It's hard to gauge, but I believe that even with less than 10 applications, I'm seeing a slight reduction the age spots. Of course, regular use of the sunblock side of things will also help them not get worse. In any case, I'm happy with it and feel that someone using it regularly would likely see even better results.

Good stuff!
I like products that multi-task for me, and this one is no exception! We all need to be putting on a sunscreen daily- so might as well have your SPF do some other stuff too- and evening out skin tone and discoloration is a great one! This is a trusted brand with an excellent reputation, and I have never been disappointed with one of their products. I have very sensitive skin, including psoriasis on my face and I am prone to periorbital dermatitis. This has not caused any flare ups or inflammation/discomfort for me with regular use.I have very light skin, and so any marks that appear (breakouts, psoriasis spots, etc) take an ETERNITY to fade. I absolutely noticed a difference when using this, and found that the darker spots on my face became less noticeable after about 2 weeks of using this.So- I am very happy! This is a great little 2-in-1 and I'm glad to have found it!
