Great product
This product is outstanding. We have a 1 year old Himalayan that enjoys outdoors but we won’t let him be out for hours at a time. We let him outside and give him like 20 minutes with the tracker on his collar . When we search the tracker easily picks up his general direction and from there we can easily find him wherever he is. He also now responds to the tone that is emitted on his collar - but he is a cat so sometime he doesn’t. We found this product to be better than expected and the customer service outstanding - we and Jinx give it a 10 out of 10 or 2 paws up

Works great in wooded area where GPS & Airtags don't work
I read the negative reviews but I haven't had any of the problems they have had. I tried Weenect which is a GPS type device and I tried two different generic brand Airtags. I live in a wooded area in the mountains so neither of those types worked at all. My cat would be 80 feet away and both would say she was found but that doesn't work for me because she could be in the woods or behind a building where I couldn't see her. They wouldn't keep searching so I had to just guess and try to find her.The Tabcat works as it says. I turn it on, the red light comes on. As I start walking it either stays red and starts beeping and then red lights increase then it goes to yellow and then green if I am going in the right direction. There's a little learning curve but not much. As the lights increase I move in the direction I am going but If the lights decrease I turn around slowly until they start increasing again. One time it brought me to the freestanding garage. I couldn't find her as I walked around the building even though it kept blinking green and sounding "excited"!! Decided to check inside the garage and there she was!. Another time it was blinking green as I walked around the house. She was supposedly right there but she wasn't. Finally I looked up and there she was - on the roof.I love this thing. It might not be perfect but it has helped me feel a little better about letting Nala outside, which she insists on! If you live where there are lots of trees and hills, this may be a better option than GPS or Airtags. It was for me. I made a video in the house (but it won't upload) which shows it goes through walls and floors. If I can get it to upload I will add it later. Also, it is very light and smaller than the GPS units. Nala doesn't mind wearing it all. Now she knows if I put on her collar with the Tabcat she gets to go outside. There is a red light on the Tabcat that blinks as the base gets closer. There is a low beep on the Tabcat but it's very soft. So I mostly just start looking in the area that the base is blinking and beeping green and have found her 100% of the time.

Slightly beats out Girafus tracker, could be better.
We used the Girafus tracker for many, many years until the tracker finally died. Switched to this one.Pros:* Battery life. I can't emphasize how nice this is. With the Girafus we were constantly charging and replacing batteries, seemed like every 2 weeks it needed it. You don't want a lost cat and a dead battery. Here the battery lasts a long time.* It has both a direction mode and a distance mode. So many times the Girafus would bounce off walls and you would get false readings. This one does a much better job getting you close. I used to spend some evenings with the Girafus looking for 30 minutes in false leads trying to narrow it down.Cons:* Larger collar unit. I'd rather it dangle underneath like a license or a bell. This one tries to fit snug to the collar itself, but the cats do get a bit annoyed that it's in their way.* The cat's unit will beep always on search mode. If I'm looking for my cat at night outside, I don't want a beeping cat waking neighbors. Cats also get wise if their thing beeps and try to hide from you.* Not as far of a distance. This thing only goes into "green" if you are just a few feet away, and by then it's not really needed. This is where Girafus would shine, if the cat was several houses away I could still get a weak signal. For this one the signal isn't as good.

A Cat Lover's Best Friend (Except for Your Cat, of Course)
I seldom write product reviews, but this is an exceptional product I highly recommend. I purchased the previous model (Cat Locator) from Amazon in 2014, and it worked reliably for 11 years. I just purchased this new model because of its improved range, and I tested that range (up to 150 yards) and indeed this new model provides very accurate and practical direction finding to the new range. This new product works really well. There are some minor criticisms, in some of these reviews, and I don't know what the reviewers are complaining about because I have used the Cat Locator (nearly identical) for 11 years and I had no complaints. If you are a cat lover, this product is mandatory and worth every penny. Six stars out of five--and I hardly ever say that about a product.

It worked!
My outside ignorant kitty (13 months old) got out and somehow got out of our fence and got lost. He cried. We took his tracker outside and sure enough were able to find him and get him home! I'm so grateful. That was so scary.
