Brilliant Camera – Easy to Set Up, Great App, and No Wires Needed!
Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with this solar-powered security camera. From the moment it arrived, everything about it just worked. The setup was incredibly straightforward – I had it connected and running in less than 10 minutes. The instructions were clear, and the app guided me through everything step by step. Speaking of the app, it’s genuinely one of the best I’ve used for smart tech. It’s smooth, intuitive, and lets you customise alerts, view live footage, and scroll back through events without any hassle. The notifications come through quickly and I love being able to check in from anywhere. The image quality is excellent too – both day and night. The HD clarity is way better than I expected for the price. Even in lower light, the night vision picks up a lot of detail. What really sold me though is the solar power. It means I could install it exactly where I wanted for the best view, without worrying about running power cables or being near a socket. It charges well even in typical UK weather, and I haven’t had to think about the battery once since putting it up. If you’re looking for a reliable, wire-free, solar security camera with a brilliant app and crystal-clear video, I’d definitely recommend this one

Well engineered camera and well designed app
This is a quality product for a very reasonable price. It took a bit of persuasion (several attempts at the 'present QR code to camera lens' stage) to get the camera to connect to my home wifi (not sure why), but the connection was solid once made. The camera is now mounted on an outside wall about 20m from the router but works absolutely fine. Just check that the camera works Ok in the intended location before you go to the trouble of fixing it permanently. I made a wooden "plinth" that I fixed to the wall with two screws, then fixed the camera to the plinth. Much easier than trying to drill four holes accurately into brick/mortar. The app has lots of options so it took a bit of time to set up the alerts how I wanted them. You can view the state of charge of the battery via the app. It comes with a USB charging cable but you will probably never need it once the camera is installed. Image quality is impressive. We'll just have to see how well the camera stands up to the weather! Based on initial experience, highly recommended.

Good quality
Easy to install and interface with Wansvie app. Picture and video quality good at 2K and angle of view excellent. Be aware of positioning due to fixed solar panel. Overall quality excellent and nice to have black casing.

Good value, excellent video quality and easy to use
Overall a fantastic camera. Neat design, looks smart and works great. Very quick to setup, had this up and running within a couple of minutes. Clear video and night vision is very good. Using a micro SD card is simple and the settings for motion alerts are intuitive. The screw template that comes in the box is really useful for mounting the camera too. However, having the solar panel attached to the camera means there are limited positions to mount the camera to ensure plenty of daylight can reach the panel. We did test this in an area that had shade for most of the day though and it still holds charge really well, even in UK winter with fewer daylight hours. It would be really helpful to have the option to hardwire a power lead, for instances where the solar battery cannot charge enough (eg if someone needed to mount the camera in a position that receives no direct light). Although there is a USB C port for charging via a cable (and the cable is provided, which is very helpful), this doesn’t seem to be designed for permanent use as the port is under an IP rated rubber cover which needs to be closed before use outside. The only real negative is the mount design. It’s quite difficult to keep tension using the nut and I think over time this will come loose with the weight of the camera and outdoor weather conditions. If you try to change the angle of the camera once it’s been mounted on a wall, the tensioning nut comes undone and it’s fiddly to do up again with the camera in position. A more secure fixing method would help to improve the camera, but for the money this is still a great device.

A lot of camera for the money.
If you want a camera that is affordable but functional, this is a great purchase. Originally bought in July, the camera worked beautifully charging during the day in the sun. The footage is good quality and the sound quality is pretty good for it's size and cost. Our camera is sited at the end of our drive which is approximately 15m from our house (and the router). It occasionally disconnects from the WiFi but to be honest, I think that's a distance issue, not a camera fault. We started to have a problem during the winter with battery life which I put down to the lack of sunlight. I brought the camera in to charge on the mains but after a couple of charges, it failed to turn on at all. I contacted the customer support through the Amazon link on my order confirmation and unexpectedly received a rapid response with some suggestions for quick fixes. A dialogue between myself and the customer services operator, Melissa, ensued and I received prompt and helpful replies even over the Xmas holiday and weekend. Sadly, the suggestions didn't work so, on receipt of a quick little video emailed to Melissa showing this, she dispatched a replacement which arrived two days earlier than the delivery estimate. New camera installed and working perfectly. Two of my neighbours have enquired about it and on showing them the image quality, they have both purchased one too. There is a small subscription charge if you want to be able to view all of the recorded footage but it's worth it for the security it provides, protecting our home, car and garage. You can zoom in on the videos too and record footage at night. It also has a handy motion-activated security light which is surprisingly bright and illuminates our front steps. The app is fairly easy to use and you can adjust the sensitivity, re-trigger interval and whether or not you want notifications, amongst other things. Great value for money and has the customer-service to back it up.

2k battery camera with impressive solar charging
What’s Included. • The camera itself • A wall-mount with 360 degree swivel bracket, a drilling template, and screws with wall fixings • USB3 charging cable • Certificate of Conformity • 24H Surveillance warning sticker • Quick Start Guide Setting up Installation was the quickest I have experienced. I was pleased to see that this camera uses the WANSVIEW app, which I already had on my phone. Pressing the POWER button for 5 seconds followed by pressing the RESET button for 5 seconds resulted in the indicator light flashing alternately red and blue. These buttons are located beneath the flap on the top of the camera. After tapping the Add Device button on the app and pointing the camera at the QR code on the app, the camera announced by voice that it had successfully been added to my network. Immediately the image from the camera appeared in the app, together with my other Wansview cameras. Selecting the settings symbol resulted in a window informing me of the Wifi strength and battery charge. Next to the POWER and RESET buttons there is a USB3 slot marked DC 5V, and another marked TF. The DC 5V is for charging the internal battery should there not be sufficient sunlight to charge it during use. I did not need to charge the battery as the app informed me that it was already at near full charge. The TF (TransFlash) slot is for a memory storage card for local storage of images and video. Although it says TF, I managed to insert a 32GB micro SD card. The app detected my 32GB card then included a section for Memory Card Storage. There are a few options associated with this, like Motion alert ENABLE, when to record (scheduled or 24/7), space remaining, and action to take when storage is full (overwrite earliest recordings or stop recording). It also had options for custom recognition and notifications including person recognition. There is no need to subscribe to a cloud based subscription if using the memory card. Installation This involved mounting the camera at a suitable location. This would be a wall or any flat vertical surface where the view required is available. Note, however, that the location must have a good 2.4GHz WiFi signal. The mounting bracket is easy to fit. The template can be stuck to the surface and then the holes drilled where indicated. I found that it if the swivel mount is unscrewed form the mounting base, it was possible to hold the bracket against the mounting surface and then to drill using the holes in the base. The swivel mount has a threaded stud which screws into a socket on the back end of the camera, and the swivel bracket is held to the base by plastic collar. This should be loosely attached so that the body of the camera may be rotated and angled as required before tightening the collar. My attachment was to a wooden beam, so the supplied fixings were not required. In Use The image on the app was bright and sharp and declares itself on the image to be 2K, which is similar to High Definition (HD) or 1920 x 1080 pixels. As I watched myself on the app walking towards the camera, there was very little delay and movement was smooth. The app allows the image to display individually with options in the main screen, individually at full screen or with other Wansview cloud cameras (if any) in a grid. The settings menu provides access to various other functions built in to the camera, but at the top of the main screen is a useful indication of WiFi signal strength and the battery charge percentage. If sunlight is detected, then the battery symbol alternates between blue and green to indicate that it is charging. On testing the alert function it appeared that an alert was not triggered unless the movement was close to the camera. Checking the Motion detection settings revealed that by default these have been set to Power-save mode (see screenshot above). Clearly, with a battery powered camera it is important that the battery drain does not exceed the solar charging capability. In a British winter, I’m not sure how this will work out even in Power-save Mode. The settings available are: POWER-SAVE STANDARD PERFORMANCE SENSITIVITY LOW NORMAL HIGH DETECTION DISTANCE NEAR NORMAL FAR RETRIGGER INTERVAL 60 SECS 30 SEC 0 SECS The camera did trigger an alert and it did record me but not until I had reached the camera and started to walk away, but in the light of the above explanation I think this is acceptable. I changed them to Standard Mode, and this time an alert was triggered when I was about 5 metres away from the camera, so I think Performance mode would increase this distance further. The battery indicated that it was 60% full after running for 5 days in Power-Save mode in poor sunlight weather. After changing the settings to Standard, the battery indicated 48% after about 4 hours. However I was creating a lot of alerts in that time by walking back and forth to check it. With it still in Standard mode but with nothing to cause an alert, it is still showing 48% 2 hours later. Reviewing the alerts is achieved by selecting the Replay button on the main screen of the app. This will open a timeline showing where the alerts have occurred, and allow the video at that time to be viewed. Night vision is very good, with the built in infra-red lighting automatically switching on when darkness descends (see screenshot above). Summary A very impressive camera – easy to set up and good quality images were obtained day and night. The alert function can be adjusted between power saving and sensitivity. The only minor issue I had was the camera slipped slightly during a high winds. Make sure the swivel bracket is fully tightened. Update after 2 months’ use (Mid December to Mid February 2025) The camera has performed faultlessly, providing clear images, day and night. Particularly impressive is the fact that its solar panel has now charged the battery to 100%, as indicated on the display. No charging cable has been attached during use. This is despite the fact that I have set it to Performance Mode, with the motion sensitivity at HIGH, detection distance to FAR and retrigger interval to 0 seconds.

A great camera or the price but only if wired!
This camera does everything we want it to. It was easy to set up, connected easily and the battery is topped up every day from the solar panel even in overcast weather. The night videos are clear and everything is picked up easily. With an SD card (not included) there is no need for a subscription to a cloud and it can be wiped when full all from the app. The accompanying app gives a lot of precise control. Highly recommended. **EDIT** Since running this video doorbell, we found that running it on battery is useless, unless you are using it as a plain doorbell which defeats the point of having it. The battery drains in a couple of weeks and you have to keep removing it to charge. We only had it set for just our porch movement and nothing else in the hope that that would stop the battery draining so quickly. We are now having to wire it by drilling a hole in the door for the lead when that was why we bought wireless in the first place to avoid holes! Therefore I have had to reduce my original 5 star rating to just 3.

Great piece of kit, recommended
It's a great camera, picture is good. It's responsive and gets a good signal even fairly far from my router. The night vision is also very good. Deffo stands up to the weather, it's been raining hard for almost a week now with no issues. Would be 5 stars but the battery is small for this country. It runs out to quickly and can't charge enough in the british winter. I have other cameras from this company which actually do very well in this area and charge enough to run all winter. Not this one though. But other than that, a very solid piece of kit which is well worth the money. First pic is day light, second is night vision and the third is nicht with the built in light on.
