My son‘s ninja class resumed back in July, they implemented many changes including much smaller class (no more than 3 but usually only 2 or by yourself) checking temperature, stepping into a tray of disinfectant going in the building, many many hand sanitizers, constantly wiping down everything, mask wearing..and, no more supplying chalk powder for when they use the monkey bars. First time we went back, after not having been at the place for so long, my son got blisters on his hand from using the monkey bars due to the constant use of hand sanitizers and not having any chalk powder available for his hands.First thing I did coming hom was to go on Amazon and bought this for him. I kept it in a ziplock bag to carry, yes, without a bag it will get very messy. I wish it comes with a bag, but ziplock bag works okay. My son is 6 and I find the large one too big for his hands, I prob should have either gotten the two little ones or the medium sized one. Again, that was my mistake for not picking the right size, but the chalk is fine and my son is very happy finally having some chalk for his hands, and it is his personal one. I do feel bad that he is not allowed to share with others but also understand the concerns.I think this one will last him quite a while, but when it is time to replace it I will pay better attention to the size, bigger is not always better.

I gave it a 4 because it doesn't last as long as "regular" chalk that comes as a brick. However, if you don't mind re-chalking your hands a little more frequently then who cares? I should note that I use this for Olympic lifting and deadlifting, not for gymnastics or anything like that. Im very happy with the purchase. Instead of the chalk being compressed into a block, it's in a cloth bag, feels like cheese cloth, that allows chalk to come through the fabric. You don't open the sac. You just rub your hands on it. I keep mine in a Ziploc bag. I should warn that if your gym uses fans, keep your hands and the chalk in your Ziploc, because otherwise you will create a mini chalk snow storm. I am overall happy with this purchase. I think this is better for me than a traditional block because the block will just get broken and crumbled in my gym bag if I don't keep it in a hard container. This chalk feels the same to me once it's on my hands, although like I said it seems like it needs to be reapplied more often. But this may be because when I use a block of chalk, I really rub it in hard and get a thicker layer of chalk. It's definitely not inconvenient to rechalk a little more often.

My son uses this for basketball to give him better grip. Works great for that. We did put it into a gallon size zip lock bag so he can just put his hands down in the plastic bag and not make a mess.

No complaints it does exactly what it needs to do her gymnastics practice

My girls ages 3-9 use the chalk at home for all their gymnastics needs. Sometimes serves as a dual purpose to coloring on the gym wall by the youngest, but luckily washes right off!
