I bought a new machine and wanted to keep using the bottomless portafilter; it's what I'd used with my old 54mm Solis. I decided to try a high extraction basket at the same time, and it was just too many changes at one time. I wasted a pound of beans. I couldn't get a good pull. I went back to the OEM portafilter and basket. I dialed that in to produce a ok flavored pull. I stuck with it for a week. Today I grabbed the bottomless and this new filter. I'd read in a review that the reviewer had to grind much finer, so I started with a full integer adjustment. It wasn't enough to get the pressure to 9 bars. After a few more adjustments, I finally got the pressure and flow needed. Halleluiah! It's been over a month since I had a Cortado worth drinking. Seriously, I thought my taste buds had changed and was considering giving up coffee/espresso altogether. I'm so glad I stuck with it. As to some of the points made in other reviews. After five consecutive pulls, I haven't had any trouble with the grind clogging the holes, but I did use the paper filter. I only mention this because someone said they had clogs even with the paper. At some point, I'll try it without the paper filter and the screen. My pucks are pretty soft, and I'd like to troubleshoot that with just the filter basket and beans.
