One of the best sub $1k headphones, period.
Title is a bit subjective, but I believe this to be one of the best sub $1k headphones period. First, it is built wonderfully. It is very comfortable to wear and is light on my head while also feeling sturdy. It's Focal quality, and from the brand I expect nothing less. Second, and most important, the sound! It is tuned just to my preference; it has a bass that feels accurate without mudding the other frequencies, the mids feel spacious and vocals sound natural and punchy, and the treble sounds sparkly without sound harsh. While I wouldn't mix with these, they are definitely not a neutral headphone being a bit warm, they are an awesome listening headphone and makes music and gaming feel awesome! Would recommend for a friend who would want to enter the hifi world with Focal (especially when it was at $499 when bought, awesome price vs its $699 normal).

Open back with some thump
Coming from a beyerdynamic amiron home, these are amazing. I can listen to these all day without having to EQ them and the comfort is off the charts. Theres enough bass for one of my favorite genres, electronic rock (blue stahli), without overtaking the mid-range because the bass is so clean. The mid-range is very natural sounding and has a lot of body. The treble is tamed down, which I appreciate because of my beyer experience, so it's not fatiguing. That reduces the soundstage a little, but I still find it good enough for gaming because the imaging is spectacular.I'm no audiophile, but after buying these I finally understand all those buzzwords those guys talk about. I had no idea what I was missing out on.

A big sound upgrade for anyone coming from the Sennheiser HD600 or HD650 (HD6XX).
I bought these headphones wanting to get more out of my music when I sit at my desktop and that's exactly what these cans deliver. The sound signature is similar to the Sennheiser HD650's or what MassDrop calls the HD6XX, so if you're coming from those headphones, you will very likely enjoy the sound signature of the Hadney as well. Although the two headphones are similar the Focal Hadeny sounds better in most every measurable way. The Hadeny has better detail, better clarity, better separation, much better bass, less distortion, a lower impedance and sounds much fuller overall. Vocals on the Sennheiser are a bit more forward but that is the only category they win in.With that said I think the Sennheiser HD650 is still my favorite headphone. They are so comfortable I wear them all-day. The Focal Hadney is more finicky and needs to be adjusted just right or it begins to hurt the top of my head after only a few minutes of wear. For this reason, I think you should try them on first before you invest the money and blind buy these headphones like I did.Overall, I would give these cans a 4 out of 5 stars only because the comfort is not perfect. If they were more comfortable, I would give them 4.5 out 5. Comfort is very subjective though and while I do like the Hadney there is no denying they weigh a bit more than HD650 and the clamp force is weaker. It's unfortunate because I really do like the Focal sound, they just need to add clamp force and better padding.

Focal does it again!
So a little background. I have the original Focal Clear headphones. So I decided to get the Focal Bathys (wireless) headphones for walking and traveling. I was so happy with the Bathys in DAC mode that I decided to give the Hadenys a shot. To my ears the Hadenys are more resolving than the Clear. What I mean is vocals and instruments are more detailed. The bass is actually punchy, more than the Clear. The treble is detailed but relaxed…not metallic or piercing like the Clear. Being only 26 ohms the Hadenys can be driven for hours with your phone. Focal just seems to keep getting better. I’m so happy with the Hadenys I’ve retired the Clear. I’m tempted to give the Utopia a listen…one day.

Just okay
Pros: comfortableCons: pleather headband, and sound quality was noticeably worse with EQ or stock using peace. Maybe they do benefit from extensive burn in, but running in a K9 Pro and trying different EQ profiles as well as stock, I was not impressed. Sounded worse than the Sennheiser HD 490 pros which are $200 cheaper.

Sounds great BUT:
The ear cups were JUST small enough to be uncomfortable after like 20 minutes. I think my ears are normal-ish sized, maybe slightly larger than "average" but I just could not get them to sit inside the ear cups well enough to not bother me.It should also be noted that the headband is relatively thin, definitely thinner than what you would get with the Clear or some of the even higher priced sets. Not as uncomfortable as the ear cup issue, but was still present.Honestly these would be an incredibly comfortable set if my ears just fit inside the cups a little better, and they do sound FANTASTIC. I just cannot justify the cost of something I cannot listen to for any kind of extended period and had to return.4 stars because the sound really is excellent, almost enough to offset my discomfort but not quite.
