Mom, Share Your Life With Me Review: A Treasure! - THE GIFT: I gave this to my mother as a Christmas present and we made the deal she'd give it back to me (all filled out) the following Christmas. It was the best gift ever, period. It brought back a lot of memories for her, which she truly enjoyed, and I absolutely loved reading it! It made for many good conversations, too, as we talked about the stories she shared. THE PRODUCT: - The book is somewhat small -- a larger, hard-bound version would be nice, but at 370 pages it would also raise the price tag! - A "daily journal", the pages are like a calendar (page one is "January 1"), which set it up so she could fill out one page a day and be done in a year. Of course, she didn't stick to this, sometimes writing several pages a day or not writing for a few days, but it made it easy to track progress. Also, the questions are sometimes related to the time of year (Thanksgiving, New Year's Day, summer, etc.). - Some reviewers didn't like all the questions - consider that it would be impossible to come up with 300+ questions relevant to a specific person's life! When Mom found a question that she didn't have a good story for, she just wrote something else or shared a funny story about me (at the dentist) instead of her. - I previewed similar books and found this one to be the best. I bought another one (from son to mom) from a different author and don't like the questions nearly as much. THE RESULT: A wonderful and endearing gift that I'll always treasure. I'm also looking forward to my own kids reading it to know more about their grandma. A rare "5 stars" for me! Review: made mom cry! - my fiancé and I both got these for our mom's this year for mother's day. they both loved them!!! we got to look in them a bit before gifting and I really like the set up. each page has a question and, I think, plenty of space to write, there are no lines for writing, however, in case that matters to some people. some questions said things like "use the next 3 pages to write about Christmas or other holiday memories." some questions are really strange but you never know -- maybe your mom had some very interesting kite flying experiences and you would never know otherwise!!! overall it is very cute. my mom already said if she thinks a question is dumb she will write that down and write about something else. that's the great part about this book -- it really gives your mom a chance to let you in to her life. I wrote on the inside cover to let my mom know how important it was to me to know her more. she is my best friend and it is easy to forget that she had an entire life of experiences before I even came along!

Such a great gift!
My wife and I both got one of these to give to our mothers'. We told them to write one a day and gift it back to us next Christmas with it all filled out. It's a great way to hear about stories that don't usually come up in conversation. I like how small it is too. It makes it really easy to want to fill it out because you aren't having to write full pages about little experiences. Our mom's both loved it and are excited to fill it out. While we were all opening presents they went to some random ones and we head a few funny stories that we had never heard from them. There are a few questions we saw that don't apply but we let them know to just write another little funny memory they have. I think this is a great gift for all moms!

Great way to record family history and memories
I got this for my mom last Christmas (the spiral bound) and I bought one for myself to fill out for my own children. I see that some people feel the questions are dated but my version doesn’t seem to have them. Regardless, at 37 I have used an outhouse on multiple occasions so I could answer the question they’re complaining about. ANYWAY. My mom returned the one I got her completed and I am loving reading all that she wrote. I wish I had been able to get one for my grandmothers before they passed. I’m learning so much and viewing my mom in an entirely different light. I seriously recommend this and at one entry a day it isn’t hard to fill out. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because some of the questions are repetitive.

Fun book to have your parents fill out
I bought one of these for my grandmother and she filled it out some of it before she passed away. I really wished she would have filled out more of it before she passed away as many of her grandchildren and I included did not know much about her childhood or what she was like as a teen. I bought this book and one called Dad, Share Your Life With Me so my mother and father could fill them out now before they got too old and forgot things and they could fill them out together. This book asks many questions about their childhood, what they were like as teens, what they remember about holidays, etc. This book has one question per day for a whole year. Not that my parents answer one question per day but they leave them at the kitchen table and they look at them every day and try to answer them a couple times a week. It might take them a couple years to answer all the questions but eventually they all will be answered and perhaps we will be able to talk about the questions together. My parents say that having these books have sparked some conversations between themselves as they discussed their answers.

A great way to learn more about your Mother-there's also a version for Fathers
My brother and I keep talking about filming our parents as they talk about their childhood. It seems like we never get around to it. I happened to see the Father version of this book in a store and thought this would be the perfect thing for our parents to do to leave something tangible and personal in case anything happens to them. While no one wants to think of the inevitable, it will happen, and with this book you'll have the good, bad, and in between of your parent's childhood and life. My Mother said that my Father has really enjoyed setting time aside every day to complete the daily entry.

I bought this for my mom and she loved it. She spent a year filling it out and then gave it back to me as a Christmas gift. Then we spent the day with her telling me the stories that are in it; which is something I will always cherish.
