Gorgeous book with so many tips and techniques!
The media could not be loaded. This book is packed full of drawing techniques from simple character templates to full scenes. I’m really impressed with the quality of this book. The whole thing is in full color and there are so many beautiful drawings to choose from. Some of my favorite sections are the fashion section, where he gives multiple other outfit and accessories options and the section where he shows “do’s and don’ts” that really show how to elevate a character and make them look more dynamic. Amazing book that I can’t wait to draw even more from!

"The Big Book of Drawing Anime: The Complete Step-by-Step Guide" lives up to its title.
"The Big Book of Drawing Anime: The Complete Step-by-Step Guide" lives up to its title. This comprehensive book covers a wide range of topics, from faces and figures to poses and scene settings, and much more! I particularly enjoyed the interviews with artists, which were a nice bonus. As a beginner to anime style, I always found this type of artwork challenging. I am eager to learn more about this style to become more versatile as an artist. The book’s illustrations are straightforward, providing clear, step-by-step instructions on how to draw them. However, it does require patience and a lot of practice.Recently, I used the guides in this book to draw a character from Dragon Ball Z as fan art. Since this book covers a different anime style than that show, I had to adapt what I learned to fit the DBZ style. I also experimented by creating my own characters and developing my unique anime style.Overall, this guide is an excellent resource for anyone interested in trying anime style drawing. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their drawing skills in this particular art form.

Waste of time
This book setup big expectations and everything was exactly like any how to draw book you’ve read, you’d find more on a thirty second search on Google or YouTube than everything in this book.

This book is like a treasure chest!
This book is a real treasure chest of instruction, inspiration, ideas, hints, and much more! It covers SO much – not just the how-to stuff, which is excellent!. For instance, it tells you about working as an anime artist and illustrating graphic novels, and it also gives some really useful info about the legal rights of creative artists – things that every artist should know. There is detailed information about doing eyes, hairstyles, expressions, character design and clothing. The clothing part I especially liked, because I’m not very good at designing outfits for my characters. This section not only explains and demonstrates lots of great outfits, but also provides mix-and-match ideas for some of the more common types (like the schoolgirl outfit, for example). The “poses” information is very helpful in drawing characters that look natural. There is also a good section on creating scenes and stories. And throughout the book there are little hints on just about everything. I guess you can tell that I really like this book a lot, and let me just add that it’s fun to read and very helpful!

More than just a "how to" book!
The first thing I noticed about this book is how brightly colored it is and the amount of pages it has in it. The second thing I noticed, was the amount of information packed within its pages. I have to be honest in saying I have never been a fan of anime, but I love Christopher Hart's books and this book honestly has changed my opinion. He has created a one stop shop for aspiring anime artists. Covering everything from character design to hairstyles, clothing, poses, and even creating scenes. There are many examples included to provide inspiration, which begin with a basic sketch through to the finished drawing. If you love anime, you should be able to create your own art in no time! Another observation is that although geared toward anime, many of principles can be used in other forms of drawings as well. I fully recommend this book, a great resource!

Very vibrant, and well put together!
As an avid fan of all things anime, manga, and so forth this book was highly anticipated for me! There’s really not much this book doesn’t cover. I would highly recommend getting this book if you haven’t already. I could not wait to start drawing right away. Round of applause to Mr. Chris Hart! Great work as always. The pages jump out at you, and pull you in at the same time. GO GET THIS BOOK!!
