Don't trust this compass!!!
After I received this compass and placed it through its paces I am wondering how Brunton is still in business. I had bought three compasses made by Brunton and was completely disappointed in their products. First, this compass is completely made from plastic. Not the kind of plastic you would find on some fine firearms but the toy plastic you would find at a toy store. On connecting the lanyard to the rubber holder of the compass would in my belief be risking loosing the compass from the rubber holder. The compass worked fine until I utilized the declination setting on the compass. The compass then began giving eratic readings. Maybe I did this wrong, I do not know but I did follow the instruction given me. Amazon would not except return of this compass and I attempted to contact the seller with no success. I will eat this one but I consider that this was a seventy dollar lesson that would probably keep me from getting lost in the back country.

North need sticks. It does not always point north
Extremely poor quality. The north needle stick and the compass has to be shaken to make the needle move and point in the general direction of north. This is definitely not an accurate compass. I would never trust it in the wilderness.
