Excellent art tool
Once you experiment setting up the Draw Lucy and finding what works best for you, it is an excellent tool for making art. I use the "photo" attachment with a direct light on the image, it is easy for me to see the shapes in the composition.

Not practical
If you can sketch on your own you do not need this tool. Also, it defects a ridiculously small image and a very small hole to squint through. Just a silly tool. Not work my time or money.

Product works as advertised, but...
Excellent product; I use it all the time. Easy to put together, easy to store, I've accidentally dropped the glass several times and have had no issues, so it has been sturdy. The only drawback I can see is that you need perfect lighting conditions to obtain a good, traceable outline. I've tried using in open sunlight, a lighted studio, but the best results I've had is to use a hand-held floodlight so I can obtain the perfect tracing image. I use the floodlight and adjust the lighting as I trace. So far, after tracing over 50 images, I've not had to use any of the filters. I've traced directly onto paper and cotton painting canvas. With the aid of a handheld floodlight, I've been able to use this device in any lighting, dark or bright. I wish the flexible cable was offered in a longer length. Excellent product for the price. I would purchase it again and recommend to someone. Once you get the hang of it, it's a great tool.

Hard to figure out how to use
Just can't get a handle on how to use this item, get it out every once in awhile and try again.

A good tool for those trying classical image making techniques.
This is the first time I have bought a camera Lucia and I'm happy to say that the LUCY turned up well packaged with all the working parts needed. The instructions are a bit of a mess, but nobody needs them to be honest. Although the build quality is made from cheap looking plastic that houses the mirrors, after using it a bit I realise that it has to be light weight so it doesn't dip down or bob around. So it's perfect for what it is intended for. The filters work well and improve the different lighting conditions I have tested it in. The clamp is the only part that is a little stiff but over time it should improve. The arm is the best part to be honest - as it quickly lets you adjust the image position without too much hassle. A straight metal arm would not let you clamp onto different surfaces. A Camera Lucia is not an easy tool to use and I can see it being hard to master, but it works well. I look forward to getting the hang of it. Overall the LUCY is a good package for the right price for an artist looking to experiment with the classic ways of image making.

An Art Tool
My Lucy arrived two hours ago and I’m already using it to start a drawing from a photo. Here are some things to keep in mind. The Lucy is a tool. Just like your pencil, your eraser, or your easel, a Lucy is one of the tools you can use to create art. The user has to have a level of drawing ability or the willingness to learn how to draw. This means you will need practice to improve your drawing skills. There is no magic inside of a Lucy. A Lucy will not turn you into a sketch artist. Think of a Lucy as a tool that helps with image proportions and correct image placement on paper. An adequate light source is required. The Lucy does not have a built in light. The user will need to make sure to create adequate light in the work space. The amount of light and the position of the light are both very important when using a Lucy. Please scan the QR code and watch all of the videos. It’s true there are very few instructions included in the packaging. The packaging directions take the user to FREE instructional videos. These videos are instructions on the use of the Lucy. No log in required. No purchase required. Just scroll down the page to get all of the instructions on how to use a Lucy. Have fun. Make mistakes. Keep practicing.

It is good and it is fun.
I like it. It is better to use a dark ink and a well lit surface to work on. In this case I used pencil first, then ink and it worked pretty well too. I haven't tried enlarging since I'm mostly used to my sketchbook. But it works well if you can get used to recalibrating your paper or the arm itself every few minutes. This will not make you an instant realistic photo drawer but it helps to get proportions right. I wouldn't be able to draw this bird if it wasn't for this. Give it a try, if you feel like using a tool to make your process more fun or just faster. P. S. I think proping your paper up 45° or so will make it better on a smaller paper. But don't quote me on that.

Not what I expected ! Not helpful
Well, not exactly what I thought it was going to be. The reflected image is way smaller than pictured. I don’t have anything good to say about it other than it was not an aid for me. I thought it would speed of the drawing process. I’m sure there are people out there who love it but I don’t and I don’t recommend it. Sorry.

It should be fine after quite a bit of fiddling and experimentation. Saves laborious gridding up from sketches!

A great aid for your art work. Definitely takes some getting used to, but once you have it, it's brilliant. Take the time to set it up on a steady, flat, surface and get the lighting correct and you can't go wrong. Sketch attached is my 3rd attempt of using it, working off of a photo.
