Great alternative to co
My dog tore her ACL and needed surgery. I was not going to make her wear that cone for 2 weeks. I tried a using a donut and that didn’t work. Then I tried the full suit and that didn’t work. As soon as I took this sleeve out of the package I knew it would work. It’s easy to put on so when I am watching her I can take it off for a while. It is very light weight. I would say it’s made out of the same material as scrubs so it is loose. I read reviews on similar sleeves and people said they can start to smell. Not this one. I recommend this product.

returned it after one night
i ordered this for my 80 pound German Sheppard after he had TPLO surgery for his torn CCL, it didnt stay on well, and even when we fastened it 10 ways to his harness he still got it off without even trying, he moved to much in his sleep and it just sagged off.

The straps don’t hold up so have a needle and thread on hand
What I like:It has a two-tiered approach to positioning over the wound (head to tail and around the rump)It’s machine-washableIt has a reflective safety strip for walksWhat I don’t like:The straps that are supposed to hold this onto your dog only stay on the sleeve a week or so. The stitches or the fabric are too weak. And let me assure you I bought mine big so that wouldn’t be an issue of tightness. It is just poor quality. That said, because I can sew, I’ve resewn the straps twice in a month and only because of this it’s actually functioning well.My old dog has sebaceous cysts which leave open wounds on his body. I use menstrual pads to stick to the sleeve and absorb blood and pus from the cyst on his hip and it allows for ventilation and healing. I change the pads daily when cleaning the wound.Overall:I would recommend these if you can sew and if your dog has cysts. My dog wears a donut collar to prevent licking/chewing. Without a cone or collar, I would not recommend. The fabric is thin and easily moved aside. Don’t use this as your only defense against licking/chewing post-surgery. But if you’re trying to dry up cysts, this is a great option if you also use menstrual pads stuck to the inside because you get air movement but also protective coverage from dirt. Plus, no blood/pus on your floors/beds.Note:Sorry if this is graphic, but it’s real life with an elderly golden retriever (12.5 years, deaf, and blind in one eye) who is still enjoying life, so I’m not giving up yet. Hoping this will help others in the same boat.

Works well for initial post op period
I purchased the size L for my 52 pound lab/shepherd mix after her 2nd TPLO. She hated the cone so trying this as an alternative this time. She’s almost 10 and loves going on long walks, but isn’t super high energy. So far this sleeve has worked well but I’m not sure how it will do when she starts to become more mobile. The straps don’t really hold the sleeve tightly in place. I would not trust it if I had to leave her unsupervised. I think I will need to use the neck collar at night. Overall though this has been a good purchase to use for the first couple of days.

Works in a pinch but not ideal. Good idea, poor execution.
Works in a pinch but not ideal. I got a blowup pillow cone for around the neck which works great. I bought this leg sleeve as a deterrent for my other dogs licking the wound. It’s better than nothing but it only stays up and in place as long as the dog doesn’t get up or lay down. Then I have to adjust and re-cover the affected area. With some design modifications it might work better but now I’m just wishing I’d been able to find a set of simple dog pjs to do the trick. At least it wasn’t crazy expensive and as I said, better than nothing.

Best option I found for loose dressing
The media could not be loaded. My large breed dog had a huge mass taken off his ankle (hock?) and was in a spot that made it dang near IMPOSSIBLE to loosely cover like they wanted. I tried EVERYTHING. In 5 min he’d have whatever I had on him off. I ordered this and was hesitant because of the price. It was worth it. It stays on better than anything I attempted, and in the products defense my Lab is an absolute menace when healing from anything. Yes I found this on the ground several times, but it was just my impossible dog rolling around like an alligator. My only “complaint” is that the color is not correct. It’s nowhere near purple, more like a light navy/grey. It’s held up to many washings and if you need a loose dressing, this is the one. I threw away the directions on accident before reading them but I was able to figure it out using common sense. One set of ties goes across and under. The other set of ties stabilizes it around his next and keeps it from sliding off the back. My husband tied it wrong one day and I unfortunately found my lab hung up and in discomfort, I was late getting home too so my fault as well. This is NOT to be used as a replacement for a cone. It’s just a dressing sleeve that keeps it clean. I saw bad reviews stating it still allowed their dog to lick it. Well yea, duh it’s just fabric. I’m able to take the cone off for a few hours and watch him but that cone goes back on at bedtime. The item worked as intended and the sizing was perfect for a long legged Labrador.

Doesn't stay on
This would have been perfect if it would stay up. But it doesn't. The string that you tie around behind and just slips off over the tail and then the whole thing just falls off.I tried extra elastic and multiple ways to try to secure it to no avail.

It Works
My dog could not tolerate the dreaded plastic cone, so I purchased this for her. She accepted it almost immediately and it really helped protect the area where she had a cancerous tumor removed, both from dirt and licking. I know some dogs would chew at it, but my girl didn't, so it was a blessing for both of us. I highly recommend this product. The only small issue I had was figuring out the size to buy and how it fit her. I followed the manufacturer's recommend on how to select the right size and ended up just needing to roll up the sleeve a bit aboveher paw, like people sometimes roll up their shirt sleeves or pants legs. Overall, I am very pleased with the product and would buy it again.
