Can’t hold the end of a tape measure in the corner cause he’s straight up skibbidy toilet, dog water (that’s what the kids say these days, right?).Well, this tape measure, day-glow green, straight out of the 90’s design bag, high visibility tool can be your reliable third hand. Clearly lays out a vertical and horizontal line over a decent amount of space. How far? Don’t know. I have a small house. I did put it on the floor to find the center of the room for a ceiling light and it covered a 12 x14 room across the entire ceiling and down most of the 4 walls. Good enough for me! It’s a simple self leveling laser, and for doing your basic DIY, it’s just fine. Quality is impressive. I think I’ve dropped it off the ladder 12 times already and the floor looks worse than the level. Obviously I don’t recommend such actions, but when the kittens think this is the best new toy ever and realize the source and attack it, it’s reassuring that it will work afterwards. So for hanging shelves or pictures, it’s a great value. Maybe irritating if you were trying to do tile and constantly repositioning.Operation is a bit confusing at first. The obvious power button is not the power button. The slide switch on the side is the power switch. What you think is the power switch is for the various functions and features. Self leveling works as long as you have the level within a few degrees of flat. If you aren’t flat, it flashes so you know it’s not a true level. It also functions as a line projector between 2 points. I think it’s a long press on the function button disables the auto level. Fast blink you don’t have the device flat enough. Slow flash is just one of the settings you can cycle to. You can also cycle the brightness.I’ve used the red lasers before and they seem more precise, but the green is easier to see in the light and I hear it projects farther, but casts a wider line. The line will reflect off glossy surfaces like glass and mirrors. It has a threaded hole for mounting to a tripod or stand. The provided mount allows you to mount several ways, like on a metal surface, as a little stand. There is also a keyhole so you can poun a nail and trim

Works good with a camera tripod (not included). If you do occasional diy projects around your house, this is a great tool to have. Such a great value because it's rechargeable. Easy to use and has different brightness levels. Recommend for hanging frames, shelves or TV's.

Would be great if it wasn't all scratched up and BOTH functions worked right out of the box. The lock/non-self levelling feature doesn't work.. you have a switch that in the center is "off" as you move it left or right for levelling or no levelling. and the instructions are for a different model or maybe older as the "Mode" button has nothing to do with the lock feature. There aren't a lot of steps but I tried everything. When I move it to the lock position there's no light, the mode button doesn't do anything(instructions say to hold mode button for 'more than 1 second to turn on manual mode' which does absolutely nothing... which I'm guessing is why it was returned in the first place. The charger was already opened and scuffed, there are scuffs all around the rubber on the unit itself. This is only my experience. Seems like a lot of people had better success with this brand and this model. For me.. this is a really bad first impression of a company. I'm going to return this and buy from a more reputable manufacturer. Trying to save money just resulted in lost time and now I need to hold off until one that actually works arrives. Works as expected. The laser is reasonably bright very use full for indoor projects. On outdoor projects depending on distance you may need to wait for a cloudy day or use a white paper target when going for longer distance sightings. I am happy with this purchase and highly recommend this laser level if you are looking for a reasonably priced unit.
