Physical mechanism, reliable and easy to use
Dial easily adjusts so you can set the zero point as needed. I've been using this for several weeks and it works without problems as expected. Rather more straightforward than digital and a much better deal.

The product actually works and is at least precise in that results are repeatable.
We have had it for a couple of weeks and it works fine so far. I was a bit skeptical after seeing other reviews but it works as advertised. Most importantly, since we are using it for a science project, it actually measures and holds the peak force until you reset it. And it has a feature to zero balance the needle if it is slightly off of zero.

Force Gauge Solves Mystery
The item arrived promptly and performed exactly as expected. We had some technical issues with a product supplied by one vendor for a long time, but new manufacturing methods apparently made some difference in performance that hadn't been previously detected. This tool helped us identify and quantify the problem so we could make design changes for the future. Economical, and good quality.

Good price for an analog 500N gauge.
The device works as adverticed. I didn't give it 5 stars because is a little awkward to hold while taking meassurments.
