A wonderful introduction for children to the world of ballet, especially designed for ages four through six. Review: Useful, helpful, best baby ballet video we own. - I'm very thankful to the makers of this video, it is helpful not only for my kid, but also for me, as I teach dance, I've picked up a couple of very nice ideas from this program. They have a set of ballet moves to do at the barre (some students do them holding on to chairs, so that solved the problem of not having a barre at home, and the kid saw that chairs were ok for exercising. Then they follow with a nice stretch routine. Then they do some moves away from the barre, like little jumps and arm positions (very nice combinations, by the way) and finally some jumps and leaps across the floor. Overall it is very nicely structured, the little dancers are adorable and they ARE good. The teacher explains every combination talking to the camera, and then they do it with music. And the soundtrack is really good, it's peaceful and beautiful, and makes you want to do ballet. We've been practicing with it twice a week for a month and still happy with it. Review: Fabulously simple and great for younger kids. - I can't believe how time flies.. I bought it in 2006 and my kids and their friends played this for hours! They loved this DVD! I think while the material might be bit advanced for a 4 year old, you can start easily exposing them at this age or even earlier because the moves are presented and they allow the kid to get familiar with what the proper ballet techniques, names and position and moves are. You got some older children who are in the video but little kids often like to see older kids as this make them feel more inspired and they "aspire" to do what the older kids do.. I would not encourage you to push a child to do all the steps along with the video as some might be way advanced for their motor skills and they could get discouraged but if you want to just casually play it and let the kid watch few times and let them gradually grow into the steps then that would be way to go. Overall really good DVD. Not super overstimulating and not overwhelming for the age of 5ish but might be too challenging to follow for younger crowd.

Great for beginning ballerinas or as a refresher course.
This video is great for little budding ballerinas! It shows most of the basic movements and is easy to follow.

Great for pre-schoolers
I have two girls - a 3yr old and a 5 1/2 yr old. Neither have taken ballet lessons before. We've had this video for about three months and the girls watch it (and have ballet class!) at least twice a week. I wanted to enroll the girls in a beginner ballet class, but it didn't work with our schedule. This video is really good for introducing the basic things you would probably encounter in a beginning ballet class. The moves are clearly demonstrated and explained, then you practice what was just taught. The video is divided into two halves. In the first half, each move is explained, demonstrated, then practiced. In the second half, the "class" moves through the steps taught, without the instructor demonstrating, just like you would in a ballet class. Both the 3 yr old and 5.5 yr old have been able to understand and learn the moves. I was looking for a traditional ballet class video and I've been very happy with Baby Ballet. (We don't have a ballet barre at our home, we just use the kitchen chairs for barre work and do the class barefoot in our family room.) Both girls are starting to do some of the moves around the house when the tape isn't on, so I think the material is age appropriate.

Very serious and not very fun. A little disappointing.
Its a little disappointing and not very fun. I know that ballet is one of the most formal and serious of the dances but the name is deceiving. Aside from there being children in the video, there is nothing children friendly about it. Its very serious and formal. It does cover all of the steps and is a great introduction to ballet but I would think it could of been a little more fun and kid friendly. There is zero fun in this video. Just a teacher giving a lesson. Its very vanilla and bland and ballet can be more than that. You want to keep a child's attention and make it interesting. Too serious for it to be for kids. This is just a typical introduction to ballet and walks you through the common positions. Perhaps the creator can take note and be a little creative on the next one. I appreciate the effort. As we need more children in to the arts.

May be slightly advanced for a 4 year old but still very good!
My daughter loves this DVD! She asks me to play it all the time. It's very well done, but the name is a little misleading. A couple of the moves they do seem a little too advanced for a 4 year old. The little girls that are demonstrating the moves seem to be around 6 or 7, so a little more advanced, and able to actually do them. As long as your child doesn't get discouraged easily for not being able to do the moves, then I'd still say get this. It's really cute, and other than the last 2 moves, it's pretty easy to do and follow along with.

Keep your home videos on youtube, Rosemary Boross!
Thankfully I rented this through Amazon prime before purchasing. The title “BABY Ballet is completely misleading, as the video is supposedly made for children ages 4-6. The production company (Kultur) obviously has no idea what appeals to that demographic, and what would you expect when one of their most popular film is “The Marty Robins Anthology?” Products for toddlers clearly aren’t their strong suit. I was looking for a movie similar to the “Prima Princessa” videos, which my daughter loves but are no longer available on Netflix ☹. “Baby Ballet” didn’t come close. The production quality is awful; it looks like a home video. No music, color, or excitement. If your goal is to replace an actual (very stiff & formal) ballet lesson with a video, this could be for you, but if you are looking to encourage your child’s interest in dance or get them up and moving, then “Baby Ballet” definitely isn’t going to do it. “Time for Dancing” was better for 3-6 year olds though wasn’t ballet specific. Not worth the money.

My children are 5 and 3.5 and they love it. It's perfect for their level. It took me over 2 hours to figure out what program it needed to finally start playing

very good beginner's dvd. not too fast, or complicated. My six year old loves it, especially the dance around the floor bit.
