I love this game & it’s been a favorite since childhood. I never made it to Oregon Trail, BUT now almost 30yrs later let’s see what this game has come n store for me. A definite MUST HAVE

Educational and Entertaining
My kids played The Oregon Trail in school, but I never played it until now. I absolutely love this game. It's challenging - my kids were not kidding about the dysentery. Anyway, it's challenging and has a number of side quest style mini games to help figure out how to best handle the much longer trek, and they allow you to unlock more types of characters. Educational as well as entertaining. I recommend this game. Enjoy!

So far so good -- except for a save glitch
I'm writing this review a little bit early (but I'm happy to revise it if something changes). We just opened the game and started playing and the graphics and game were a great throwback! There are a lot of menu controls and the beginning starts out like a tutorial. What I wanted to note is the lack of ability to save the game. I bought mine for a Nintendo Switch and there really isn't a 'SAVE' option. If you go online and look, you'll see game support stating the game is auto-saved so you don't have to worry about it. The problem is, you end up losing a lot of what you've accomplished. For example: without giving anything away, my party crossed a river. We went on to a town, did a bit of hunting, tried to reunite a lady with her long lost love, and bought some items. After the "river" part, I'd say we played for an additional 25 minutes. At that point, I looked everywhere for a save option and after seeing online that there isn't one, I turned the game off.We turned on another game to let our kiddo play and when we returned to Oregon Trail, we had lost everything we had done for the last 30 minutes, including the first river crossing. This isn't like losing the last five minutes or so; it was significant.I poured through Amazon Reviews to see if anyone had reported this (no one did) but boy is the online Community up in arms about this. Apparently it's not console-related: it's just a significant defect with this game across the board. After my first four times playing the game (and losing progress if I switch games after closing out), I discovered that under SETTINGS there's an option to leave your journey. It THEN prompts a SAVE option. Even if you choose that SAVE option, when you close the game and go back in, you'll lose some of your progress.I'm really enjoying the game but I did want to warn others about this because it seems like a significant glitch.I suppose the only benefit to it is if you have someone in your party die and you opt to close your game, there's a good chance when you boot it back up that your party member will be alive again and perhaps you can choose a different option this time.Safe travels!

Buy it and play with your kids.
Fun, entertaining, my girlfriend and I have played this childhood game for several hours on different occasions. My kids really enjoy it so far too. The game isn’t super complex or advanced either, glad they kept it that way. Hunting and fishing are fun options.

Great to share my past with my son.
Played this game with my pre-teen son. It was a blast. Graphics were good and it kept well to the old game.
