One year later
I've had my switchbot S10 for about a year and am pleased with it on the whole. It's not a perfect machine, but the things it does well are both unique and excellent. The standout feature is clearly the self draining/filling. It was finicky to get set up, but once it got set up it was great. We did have a problem where the water station stopped working, but the company was quick to send a replacement that has been working ever since. First, Some pros: - it cleans well when maintained. That is the biggest reason why anyone would buy this and I'm happy to report it has met or exceeded my expectations for its ability to clean. - The mapping and navigation generally seems excellent. It gets a little confused by mirrors, but it knows my house well and doesn't bumble around crashing into things to clean. - we have tile, so can't comment on the quality of it cleaning carpet Some cons: The area near the water station (on the ground) and charging station will get dirty and need to be manually cleaned. It doesn't have a perfect way of preventing dirty water from dripping when it disconnects, so it gets pretty filthy. My water station broke at one point, see above, but your milage may vary It does need to be cleaned relatively frequently, but that is just the nature of every machine It handles transitions from one medium to another not well. One of our rooms has a workout mat that it can't climb up on without help and can't get off of well either. On the whole, I'm really pleased with the product. It's not perfect, but at its core it does what it is designed to do (clean your home) well, consistently, and without much intervention. I would buy it again, especially as the price has gone down relative to my purchase

Wishing I'd bought the Extended Warranty
First 2 months were good. Device worked as expected with minimal maintenance. The only real issue I had in that time frame is that its object detection was horrible. I'd come home to find it humping my TV tray legs or that it ate another cat toy at least a couple nights a week. Then the problems began.... Couldn't refill at the water station oh we're not going to vacuumed either. Reached out to support and after fighting through their AI canned responses and jumping through a bunch of hoops I was finally conversing with a real person. They had me jump through more hoops including submitting videos of it not working and how it was plumbed in. After a three weeks of back and forth all by messages they finally escalated me to their technical team (well who the hell had I been talking to for 3 weeks then?) After another week the technical team decided to grace me with repair service on my still in warranty unit. Awesome I thought, mail it out, wait a week or two for repairs, and they'd send me back a working water station .... Unit purchased Feb 22, 2025, installed March 15, 2025, and first contact with problems was May 11 2025. I got my repaired water station back July 29, 2025 :( Now here I am 3 months later and now my Switchbot only finds the water station about half the time, the other half it just aborts the cleaning cycle and goes back to its dock. First message sent to switchbot support about the new issue and got a canned AI response to try a lot of things I've already tried. Le Sigh :(

A broken robot after 6 weeks and the worst customer service....
I have been trying really hard to love switchbot! I have a Smart home that I control with home assistant. So the ROBOT FLOOR CLEANER... I received it on the evening of march 31st. I've had it for all of April and May. I didn't get around to setting it up for at least 7 to 10 days as I am recovering from a spinal fusion surgery. I set up the water station in a temporary testing fashion for the first couple weeks before committing to drilling holes in my furniture. When the robot works it works well. Don't think you're never going to mop your house again though but it's great little after dinner runs etc. In the end of May it started spinning in circles uncontrollably as the right wheels are semi stuck. I investigated and there is nothing like hair or debris to cause the malfunction. As I did some online research on how to fix I found out that this is a common problem. So really the robot had 6 weeks of light use. Between the surgery recovery and then grieving the loss of my beloved dog I was not using it often. Now comes the customer service experience. I filed a ticket through the app and submitted the requested videos of the malfunctioning robot and various screenshots etc. And then I waited. Eventually a woman reaches out to me by email. I'm told that I have to wait while my case is reviewed. I waited a few days and hadn't heard anything so I reached out. And then I waited. I had no response for 3 days. So then I wrote again asking if we had any forward progress. And then I waited. No response for three more days and then was told I have to wait for a final approval and then they would mail me a shipping label. I replied that couldn't we do this in a more efficient manner such as emailing the label or even sending a replacement and attaching a return label with it? And then I waited. After another day or two I finally got an email label. So I have just shipped off the robot and I am also shocked at what slow shipping they are using through FedEx as the delivery time is 9 to 10 days from California to Texas and now I wait for its return. That is my experience so far. I'm shocked that they just didn't apologize for the inconvenience and offer to send a replacement and have me send the defective robot back. So to summarize the robot broke after 6 weeks of very light use and terrible customer service. We will see The robot I liked. So much that I made a little garage door for it in my kitchen where it can live under the pantry and then through various automations the robot garage door would open and close using a linear actuator. Pretty cool. It does a very decent job vacuuming and I love the auto empty feature. It seemed to do an ok job mopping but I didn't use that feature much as every time you use it, it goes back to its dock and dries its roller for 3 to 5 hours so I would wait for a larger mopping job than one quick clean up. California energy prices. The app is pretty clunky and feels kind of half-baked and not ready for prime time. I use a folding phone and cannot get to the bottom of the screen with that device as the switchbot app does not support that. I had to fire up an old phone and install the software there to use the machine. In summary I really love the ideas and product concepts that switchbot is coming up with but after my customer service experience I don't think that I would buy anything with moving parts again that is likely to have a breakdown. A light switch sure. Also something to know on another note is that I have Asurion electronic insurance that covers this product. And when switchbot customer service was not responding to me repeatedly I reached out to them and was told it is between me and switchbot until the manufacturer's warranty runs out so that was no help either be careful with that. Cross your fingers for me and hope that I'm not patching holes it my kitchen cabinetry. Cheers, JB UPDATE – August 2025: Raising this review to 3 stars. While my initial experience was frustrating, the S10 broke after just 6 weeks and support was very slow to respond. SwitchBot eventually stepped up and made things right. After I posted the review, a rep named Jennifer personally reached out, offered a sincere apology, sent free replacement accessories, and helped coordinate a warranty repair. I genuinely appreciate the effort. Roberta (my S10) is now fully functional and lives in a smart garage I built under my kitchen counter, complete with an actuator-powered door that opens when she needs to refill or clean her mop. I even built a second smart garage across the kitchen for a second robot vacuum, and the two now run together in sync as part of an automated routine. I’ll be sharing a video soon. Still holding this at 3 stars for now. While the robot works well and the follow-up support was appreciated, it shouldn’t take a public review to get proper service, and SwitchBot’s current Home Assistant integration remains pretty limited. If those areas improve, I’ll be happy to revisit this again.

Li vale tutti, secondo me.

OMFG I 🦆ing LOVE this thing. Vacuums and mops. It can navigate around almost anything in the house and it leaves the floor shiny and clean. So far it only gets hung up when my kids leave their shoes lying around and it snags a shoelace but it also has obstacle detection so most of the time it just avoids things like that. It won’t replace your regular deep cleaning but in a house with dogs and teenagers it does an amazing job keeping the floor clean in between cleanings.

The idea behind the robot is good. However, there is a major problem with the mopping. I am about to request a full refund if the customer support is not able to fix it remotely with a firmware. Just google about the error and you will see how many people have this issue. Here is the full ticket I have submitted to the support. I have a problem with the mopping functionality. Everything is connected and tested as described in the manual. There is a water pressure. The issue is that the robot reports "Water refilling abnormal". Observations: The clean water gets to the water station. There is a water in the water station reservoir. When I select "Clean mop" option the robot successfully goes to the water station, empties the dirty water reservoir (manually filled for testing) and the mop gets cleaned (the mop rotates and goes UP/DOWN). The mop gets wet. I can see drops of clean water on the station where the robot connects. However, the robot never gets water and the mopping functionality is not working. update: The customer support ensured me that they will fix or replace my main unit. This is a good sign. I will revisit this review if things go well. update: all working now. top customer support

I’ve held off robovacs for several years due to the perceived hassle of maintaining water / waste stations. Finally this popped up which is to my mind an optimal solution. Supplied with all the bits to plumb it in, which took about 5 minutes under the utility room sink behind the kickboard, with the charging / dry waste station in a nearby cupboard. After that it has been pretty flawless. It has made a noticeable improvement to the cleanliness / tidiness of the kitchen / dining hardwood floors which we now hoover and mop overnight, every night (which we never managed so often otherwise. Manages my deep door bars to the area we used most often, though I still need to make a ramp to access the deepest ones to some other rooms and try the carpet hoovering. Seems pretty clever at avoiding bumping into things and the geofencing in app etc works well. Support have been great with any user questions. All in all I’m pretty impressed, and after my wife’s initial eye rolling she’s now really pleased with ‘Bert’ ! Will update once I get it over the carpets as well.
