Probably the best airbrush out there, especially for beginners!
When mine eventually arrived - original got lost in shipping - the first thing that impressed me was the craftmanship: solid weight and flawless polished, stainless nickel/steel coating. The first thing that novice airbrushers encounter is getting used to how far back to pull the trigger when pushing down on the trigger; this fixes that issue with an ingenious "notched dial" system behind the trigger with settings for base, prime, different detail and even a full notch so you can control the entire system in full dual action mode This is probably the best airbrush I have used in over 30 years! It is SO easy to take apart for full cleaning (so long as you are careful with the parts) and there are available different needles and nozzles available for more detail air spraying available online (just make sure you get the needle AND its matching nozzle components)While this is commonly used for modelling, I use it for acrylic art, and this is a real game changer.Don't waste your money on a cheap unit if you are starting out because they are a waste of time and money, and you will quickly get frustrated. This manufacturer has been one of the leaders in quality manufacturing of airbrushes for decades and is worth the initial cash outlay. The only negative is that there are NO instructions! However, a search on YouTube revealed several videos that explain how to correctly use it for the different settings.

Great beginner airbrush
Started off with a cheap alternative and struggled. Decided to give this one a go after watching an online tutorial and it’s a huge improvement. The trigger stop is great for beginners. It prevents you from common beginner pitfalls like spraying too much paint for a given layer type. And it keeps the nozzle from clogging by not letting you dispense paint without air being pushed through. I understand this is a downside to more experienced painters, but it’s been very helpful for this beginner. It’s easy to disassemble and clean. And while it’s quite a bit more than the typical beginner airbrush, I found it very much worth the extra cost in terms of limiting my frustration — more time painting, less time troubleshooting.

Buy this!
WOW! truly 'idiot' proof. Perfect for 'beginner' miniature painters. But can handle the details. This tool so removed my fear of airbrushes! Even disassembly is very easy! Great German workmanship, and chrome to boot! Thanks!

XMAS gift for a miniature's enthusiast
Bought these for my son who's a miniature enthusiast. Did a fair amount of research prior, and the Harder & Steenbeck is a very high-quality airbrush. You can purchase a brush that is cheaper however think about this as a one and done purchase. You cannot pass up on the quality of this product. Pay the extra money, get a brush that will last for many years. Sure, you can find products at a lower cost, but you're also going to get lower quality. Very satisfied and thoroughly impressed with this product.

The Best Beginner Double Action Airbrush On The Market
Extremely high quality for the price and very easy to learn with. My only suggestion would be to buy a smaller needle with it if you plan to do detail work.

Great beginner to intermediate airbrush
Had a slight problem on the delivery side, the box had been opened and the airbrush either fell out or was taken out. Amazon customer service solved the problem and two days later had the airbrush. The ultra 2024 is a fantastic brush with multiple settings. I was a little curious with the larger needle and nozzle but it still able to handle a lot of the detail requirements of model painting. Definitely recommend to anyone who doesn’t consider themselves a pro.

DO NOT BUY, LOOKS PRETTY BUT YOU BETTER KNOW WHAT THINNER IT CAN USE
Hi Amazon, can I retract my review giving this airbrush five stars back in November 2024? Now, I wouldn't even give it a one point except that's the lowest you go. Ok, why? I placed my Harder & Steenbeck Airbrush Ultra in a plastic carrying case back after when I received it in October of 2024 in my closet. When I received it thou, I just tested the spray pattern using some Alclad thinner in the air cup to test the spray pattern. Before storing it thou, I made sure that it was clean and dry. I went in today (end of February 2025) to start spraying some model car parts. I started to break the system down to give it a quick clean before I started using it when I discovered that the nut holding the needle into the airbrush would NOT turn. I used all of my grip and finally got it off, but the needle would NOT budge! Also, when I went to depress the trigger, it would not budge, not even a millimeter! I knew that this airbrush was probably toast, so I used a small pair of vice grips on the end of the needle, and it finally came out. I was completely destroyed! Not by being bent, but by some chemical reaction eating away the material. When I examine the securing nut holding in the needle, I found that there was an "O" ring inside of it and it was rotted away. What in the hell caused this? I did some research on the web and one site on Bing states that you should NOT use the following thinners in this airbrush: Tamiya X-20; X-20A; Vallejo; Tamiya paints thinned with water or Tamiya thinners or Alclad. Seeing as how I'm building Tamiya 1:12 scale F-1 racing cars, I need to use almost exclusively Alclad or AK Interactive paints. What am I supposed to use for thinning these paints? I do know that most all Alclad's don't need thinning for they are lacquer based, but when I need to thin my collection of other paints, what thinners should I use? Please don't get me wrong, this is a brilliant piece of engineering (that's why I gave it a five-star review before), but why didn't they mention this problem? I still have my trusty Iwata TRN-1. So, I'll make sure that it is clean and continue on.
