Riveting and emotionally fulfilling
Best read in many years. The book is well written. The author draws the reader in right from the beginning. I didn’t want to put the book down. The reader feels as though they are in the moment with the characters.

Incredible - couldn't put the book down!!!!
I read this book in 3 days, unable to set it down. It's a cancel all your plans kind of adventure, just so I could stay with sisters Isaiah and Genesis. I am rarely this enthralled in 1 book, usually I have about 3 going at once just to stay interested. Not sure if it's the sister in me, the mom in me, the woman in me, the human in me who cares deeply about family, freedom, and justice..... it just hits home. I don't normally write reviews, but I can't shut up about how good it is and am enjoying sharing it with my friends and family.

Lovely debut
I’m not really one for historical fiction but I actually really enjoyed this book!

Impressive debut
What an impressive debut novel. Author Galloway has it all in this gripping tale of two sisters staking their claim to independence in a harsh and unforgiving landscape. Her relatable characters, sensory details, and vivid descriptions all signal a major talent has arrived.
