Well thought out construction with the checkers, dice and dice cups snugly fit into their own completely enclosed wood container that sits inside the board. The inside of the board where the triangle points are located is covered in a thin foam like material that makes the dice silent when they are thrown onto the board (it makes for a peacefully quiet game). The brilliant usage of small round magnets that are inset into the wood holds the board securely closed, yet it easily opens. We are a family of backgammon players and this board will hold up to be passed on to future generations.

This set is well made, easy to use and store. A great gift or item for anyone that loves this game. Playing pieces are large and crafted well. Beautiful set.

Beautiful set great color nice weight

Great value for the price. I cant afford a real BG Galaxy board so this is the next best thing to get that "wood" board sound and feel. My copy had no defects or flaws so thats good as I heard about others who did. Only a few minor issues: (1) There is no sound dampening material added in either the checker trays or the dice cups so if you dont like that noise you wont like it as much or will have to add your own material to lessen the effect. (2) There is about a 3/8" of a gap between the side wood rail and the checkers when you arrange your home board with a full prime of 12 checkers. I wish there was only 1/8" of a gap instead so there wasnt as much play/wobble of the checkers. This is the main difference between a $150 board and a board costing $500-$3000 it seems. (3) There is also some slop/gap in the checker storage trays and they dont fit tighter with less movement so when you are transporting the board when closed the checkers will make noise due to this reason as well. The field is made of some kind of 'spongy" material that I havent seen / felt before on other bg boards so wondering how long it will last to getting damaged/impressions in it. Other than that this is an excellent board. I am happy with my very first Pointworks backgammon board. I have several other boards (one costing double) and the the others costing less and much less than this one. I would definitely recommend this to other bg players who cant afford more than $150-$300 on a new board. See images below for details of my minor issues.

It's beautiful and very nice to play on. My wife even wanted to play me again even though I started beating her too often 😅Here are the minor flaws. These are very small complaints and I'm happy with the set, having found workarounds.1. As someone else said, the dark checkers are relatively plain on one side. See the photo with 2 checkers. For some reason the white checkers are fancy in both sides. However this turns out to be a feature because of problem number 2.2. In our set, one of the dark checkers is hard to differentiate from the white checkers. See photo with 3 checkers, where there is one dark checker and 2 white checkers but they are that hard to distinguish. Can you tell which is which? So we turn the ambiguous one over and have it be plain but dark. I contacted the manufacturer on their Facebook page a could of days ago about buying spare checkers and they have not replied.3. No handle. It would be really nice to have one given how heavy it is.Others complained about an uneven bar for placing checkers on. This was not a problem for mine. Maybe the manufacturer fixed that issue.

The 20" board and its pieces are lovely. The size of the board and the distinct colors of the pips make play easy.The case and trays are wooden. The counter pieces and cups have substance. The dice are child-sized, but the cups used to throw the dice make the size of the dice a non-issue.The board is of felt that feels good to the touch. As others have mentioned there are no seams in the board.The instructions are clear and easy to understand.This is a game well worth the purchase price.

The only way you're going to find a better board is to pay 800 to 1200 dollars or more. Like some other reviewers the hinges are slightly misaligned but to me not any kind of issue. An easy fix if you want, but again 1/32 inch is not a problem. Like another reviewer I too use the shipping foam to keep the inner case from possibly sliding inside when handling. This is a perfect addition for your game room. The foam feels nice to play on, the dice sound and roll sweet, and the checkers have a good clink to them. The magnets are very strong so there is no danger of the case opening. However if you are looking for a travel set, THIS IS NOT IT! It is way to heavy and awkward to carry for casual play. Also make sure you want a large board. You will be reaching a lot on a larger table. Younger children and smokers could damage this board easily due to the foam surface as well. None of these things are a negative, just a heads up.
