Easy Read & Interesting
First of all, when I purchased this book there was no grand expectations as far as something unknown. I just wanted to learn how I could get my husband off anything from pharmaceutical prescriptions. I love him and want him to be with me for much longer than he will be if he continues on the 'drug train'. But I don't want to jeopardize his life getting him off them either. This book is a must read for not only people wanting off meds. It is a bigger thing. It is only 130 page read but a power house of understanding from an ex-chemist for a pharmaceutical company. (Lilly) After working and seeing what is standard in drug companies, funded by our own tax money, he had to research more and eventually left pharmaceutical chemistry. All of what he knows, from freedom of information act, led him on a bigger path for humanity. This book only highlights 3 of the most killer meds used everyday, on a daily basis. Very common medicines. It also tells you what and why to use alternative natural things work better. It does not overstep by diagnosing anything, just very good information on how and why the 3 medicines are not at all good. If this is only 3! I want to know about any and all that has been given a false pass from FDA.This book was a quick and easy read, so get it from used books, or library, just be informed for yourself and anyone you love. We must start somewhere. This pharmaceutical mess has to be straightened out little by little. It's like chipping away corrosion on a faucet.

Not what the doctor ordered.
Quite simply, the realizations because of and information provided in Mr. Ellison's books helped to take the blinders off of my mind, thereby correcting a mindset regarding medicine and its intended uses.Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, the standard medications prescribed were both horrendously expensive and destroying my feeling of any type of wellness. I felt sick for two days per week. In addition, the medications were very hard on my liver and kidneys. Prayerfully, I asked for guidance and literally felt that I was led to Shane's book "Over the Counter Natural Cures". What I learned changed my life. There are many books on the market today that tout this thing or that thing for wellness. I wasn't going to read and then just believe. I read the book, then did my own research. It took months of investigation. But, I found that what he teaches is true - in two ways - again through investigation, and then because I found that I felt better than I had in a very long time. I discontinued the drugs I was taking for Multiple Sclerosis. The issues and side effects attributable to the drugs weren't what my body needed.Where I believe a life was saved by what I learned from and through Shane relates to my son. During high school, he lettered in swimming. He exercised, was an active boy growing up and ate reasonably. After high school, he went through a bit of an identity crisis, not knowing what path to follow to get him to feeling balanced and happy. During this time, he became morbidly obese. He had a good job with a good company, but wasn't meeting fully his potential. Deep down inside, he knew it. Somewhat, he had stopped believing in himself. He decided to get a better direction in his life, that he would like to serve a mission for our church. To be able to do this, he needed to lose weight. He had seen and heard about what I had learned through Mr. Ellison's book. He decided to give what he teaches a try. To make a very long story short, he lost 100 pounds in six months! No diet guru, no hype, no starving, just put what is taught to the test. He continued to get his body in shape and to the right weight, and total lost became 130 pounds. He served that mission for two years! And the mission, combined with what he learned from Mr. Ellison, not only saved a life - he had apnea, had started down the path to diabetes, glaucoma and problems with his cortisol levels - but, his life has taken incredible direction. He has just finished his fifth semester of college, and is starting his sixth - he is going year-round. His GPA? WAY up there!! He is a teacher's assistant, has taught classes at the college, grades papers, etc. His mind is clear, and so is his body. He has learned to keep it clean and clear, as best as he can, of those things that can harm the way our bodies are meant to function to their optimum capability. He loves to run and to weight train. And the weight has never come back. And he spends research time on Multiple Sclerosis and the information he has learned about what is being prescribed and its effectiveness has been further confirmation of the decision I made years ago. We all have to make our own decisions. We are the gate keepers of what is allowed into our bodies. What is right for me, might not be what others feel is right or effective for them. But, I feel informed and through that, empowered to make the best decisions for myself and my family. Knowledge is freedom.Shane's new book "3 Worst Meds" is further invaluable information for all of us. Once I learned what occurs within our bodies when given/taking these medications, again to reiterate, I felt better able to make my own decisions regarding what goes into my body and how those drugs affect how efficiently it functions and what risks are involved, instead of trusting my family's health to doctor's visits that last ten to fifteen minutes. For my family, the risks aren't worth it and I have learned that there are so many "natural cures" that can be put to work to keep our bodies functioning to their fullest potential. Do I believe that there is still a time and place for doctors and medicine? Of course. My youngest son had a fever recently that we couldn't get down - he went to the hospital. It was needed and necessary. But, I won't let my family become fodder for drug manufacturers.Thank you, Shane. You will never know or understand how grateful we are to you and how much we truly appreciate your efforts in trying to help to give us all a health "wake up call".

Tired of Taking Blood Pressure, Cholesterol or Pain Meds? Chemist/Author Offers Scientifically Proven Natural Alternatives!
In 2005 I lost my 23 year old son to a toxic combination of hydrocodone and xanax. He became trapped in an ambush by Big Pharma and one of its reckless street pushers in a white coat. By the time we became aware of the drug trap Charles was in it was too late. His brain was chemically rewired, he became addicted, and the drugs ended everything he had or ever will have on earth. The 3 Worst Meds is the latest in Shane Ellison’s tireless work to expose the dangers of prescription medications, and most importantly, to provide natural side-effect free alternatives for those who are taking them. With opioid addiction at an all time high, and a hard push to get more people on blood pressure meds, the importance of this book cannot be overstated! The American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association new blood pressure guidelines lower the threshold and treatment target from 140/90 to 130/80 mm Hg. The American College of Physicians defiantly (and uncharacteristically) asks, "Are the harms, costs, and complexity of care associated with this new target justified by the presumed benefits of labeling nearly half the U.S. population as unwell and subjecting them to treatment?" The 3 Worst Meds thoroughly answers that question and shows why the risks of taking BP meds are NOT worth the benefit. When I saw the title "The 3 Worst Meds" I initially thought the book was just a damning expose of three prescription drugs. It is that for sure, but it's also a guide to specific forgotten and hidden natural alternatives to these drugs and the crippling side-effects they cause. In a style similar to his 2014 book Over-The Counter Natural Cures Expanded, Shane’s writing strikes a good balance between penetrating expose and remedial solutions. The introduction quickly brings the reader up to speed on how our nation has become overmedicated and systematically marketed into dependence by pharmaceutical companies and the medical system they thrive in. Sprinkled with anecdotes of Ellison’s work as a cancer drug chemist for Eli Lily, we see his dream of helping humanity quickly turn to a nightmare as he realizes that the drug industry does not share his altruistic motives. The drug he was modeling in his design work actually CAUSED the cancer it was claiming to treat! The main chapters of the 3 Worst Meds focus on blood pressure, cholesterol, and pain medications, three of the world’s worst (best) selling drugs. Each chapter offers just enough information on the drug, how it works, and its dangers, without getting too technical and wordy. At the end of each chapter is his recommendation for a natural alternative with specific brand, dosage, and certificate of analysis by his own independent lab.Shane tells us why its not enough to simply take botanicals like hawthorn, or extracts of spices like turmeric, or ginger. Adulteration of supplements is a huge problem in the U.S. Suppliers in India, China, and other countries are cutting their products with harmful lab-created synthetics. In addition to containing as much as 100 percent ratios of fake product, sub-standard production techniques further taint supplements with heavy metals, fungus, and harmful bacteria. The only way to tell the real from the fake, the pure from the tainted, is by using sophisticated lab analysis like HPLC, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry and microbiological testing. Each of the nine supplements recommended in this book has gone through an expensive and thorough analysis by Ellison and a report is included. These supplements work. 1n 2017 my 88 year old dad complained of dizziness and confusion. A quick check of his blood pressure showed a systolic reading of 215. After an ambulance ride to the ER and admittance, the doctor gave him clonodine (a fast-acting BP med) and an antibiotic for an upper respiratory infection (which was elevating his BP). OK. Good enough. This was a temporary emergency being handled with emergency medications. On discharge (without asking for it) he was given a prescription for Lisinopril 50 mg/day. It worked okay to keep his blood pressure regulated but the side-effects were horrible. Dad complained of extreme fatigue and a spacey feeling like "he was on another planet." I ordered Cardio FX from the People's Chemist website. The product contains some of the same ingredients recommended in the BP chapter of this book.Dad weaned off of the Lisinopril, reducing dose by 10 mg every three days while simultaneously taking Cardio FX. In two weeks he had completely made the transition from Lisinopril to a natural alternative. Today his BP averages 120/72 and he lives with none of the disabling side-effects he was experiencing when he was on the BP drug. This book may seem a bit pricey at $39.95, but ponder this for a minute: If you are able to get off of ONE medication by reading it you not only save thousands of dollars over your lifetime, but you gain back your health! The author's message throughout the book: Drugs are only for temporary emergencies. You can't be healthy while taking prescription drugs, period. Not possible.
