Excellent reliable EDC; not convinced by v3 over v2
The Lumintop Tool AA is an excellent little flashlight. I’ve carried one (the v2 version) in my pocket for several years and used it pretty much every day, and it has stood the test of time very well. The low and medium settings are fine for most purposes, while high and turbo give a serious amount of light when you really need it for a few minutes. The ability to run with AA as well as 14500 batteries is potentially very useful. I’m pleased with this v3 but I’m not sure it’s an improvement over the v2. The Osram P9 emitter is a little more efficient than the Cree XP-L HD in the v2, but the colour rendering isn’t great and the beam pattern is not as uniform. I think the claimed increase in distance has as much to do with the brighter centre spot as with the efficiency of the P9. With the clicky switch it tail-stands quite well. The supplied diffuser is a nice idea but indoors it’s easier just to point the beam at the ceiling. The magnetic tailcap makes the torch significantly shorter but means you have to twist it (or the head of the torch) to turn it off and on or change modes. In a pocket I suspect it would turn on too readily – and turbo mode could burn you! The strobe mode is pretty much useless, not least because you’d struggle to activate it in a real emergency. Thankfully it’s well hidden, so there’s little chance of turning it on by accident. I’ve never much liked the illuminated tailcap. It uses enough current (~0.5 mA) to drain the battery over a period of weeks, while not being bright enough to locate the torch if you drop it, say in long grass. It is bright enough to find in a tent or on a bedside table, if that’s your thing. My v2’s tail light was blue; the v3 has a red-green-blue colour-changing light show that irritated me enough that I got out the soldering iron and fixed it for good.

Even better than expected.
This torch is outstanding. The base part glow is ideal for locating the torch at night. The options with the case switch is a great design feature. The night shade/lamp cap is great. The power is outstanding. The included rechargeable AA battery is fantastic. I'm going to buy a handful of them for Christmas gifts.

Lumintop Small Torch
A nice solid torch about three and a half inches long, which is for me and everyday carry. It has multiple brightness with strobe, it takes 1 AA battery which lasts a reasonable time. It also has a luminous cap to put over the light to defuse it, when you turn it off it's still visible.

Minor design flaw
Pretty good but lacks a dual purpose pocket/hat clip. Hat clip (only) works if you reverse the clip.

Another great EDC torch.
Great torch, the included Lithium Ion battery makes a big difference to the output. When using a Lithium battery the power switch glows with a multicolour LED, useful for finding the torch in the dark in many situations when on a trip, but drains the battery when no in use. However, you can also turn the torch on and off by turning the front section, which is fine and the only on off method on other Lumintop torches I have. The light diffuser and magnetic base are also great functionally and included as standard, so you are getting a lotof torch for the money here.. highly recommended.

The perfect torch?
This is the perfect torch. I've been using it almost every day for around 6 months and I'm still amazed at how small and bright it is. Supplied rechargeable battery lasts a long time on 3rd highest power level, which is more than adequate for most tasks. It has been used often outside in the rain and quality and finish seems better than the established big names. I believe the lumens rating is fairly accurate and not inflated like some manufacturers. This is my new go-to brand for torches.

Great little rechargeable EDC torch
I have version 2.0 already and love it. It has multiple settings from 'just bright enough' to 'blinding' and remembers your preferences after turning it off. An excellent little EDC torch, so i bought this version 3.0 (a little brighter on max) for my daughter

Very bright, small and well built
Mega bright for such a small size, with rechargeable battery supplied and a great luminous diffuser also.

Only had it a few days so far so durability is yet to be known, but so far I am very happy with it. It's very light and seems well made. Has great brightness levels and gets very bright. It's more of a flood light style flashlight, but it does throw pretty far and the light is pretty even and a nice color. I like that it has memory of the last used brightness level and the tail cap is NOT magnetic (but it does come with a magnetic tailcap if you want that feature, however you lose the tail button and can only turn off/on and change brightness by twisting the head. Only thing I don't like is that the tailcap has LEDs that are always on when the flashlight is turned off. I wish you could disable that or get a non-led tail cap. Although I guess if I lose it like I did my previous EDC flashlight, it might be easier to find, especially in the dark. Listed battery life seems good but have not tested it or used it long enough to confirm that. So far very impressed with this little inexpensive flashlight.
