Really Tiny Voice Recorder
The exterior of this recorder is made of nicely rounded aluminum. I expected this device to be a fragile piece of plastic, but was pleasantly surprised to find metal construction. The plastic ends are protected by a slight overhang of the aluminum shell. One end houses a micro USB socket for charging and data transfer to a computer plus an opening for attaching the key ring. The other end has the on/off button, the + and – buttons, and a three-color LED indicator. Note that the layout of the device I received does not match the Amazon item photos. See my photos. The earphones pictured on the item page have playback control buttons. The earphones I received have no buttons. Instructions are really badly translated into English, but I was able to figure out the basics. You slide the switch on, the LED lights up red, blinks and then goes dark. You are now recording. To end your recording, just slide the switch off and a purple LED flash indicates the file has been saved. Attach the earphones, turn the switch on and the unit will begin playing. Using the micro USB to USB-A cable you connect the recorder to your computer. Windows File Explorer recognized the device immediately and allowed me to play and manage files. While connected via USB, the LED will light red while the battery is charging and turn blue when charging is complete.First of all, let me say that this device works. I had no problem recording my voice, copying the file to my computer and listening to it. I plan to use it to record talks that I give for later personal review. The audio quality is fine for this purpose. There are many other functions available, but the instruction sheet does a confusing job of explaining them. Any time you pack so many functions into combinations of timed presses of just two buttons, things are bound to get confusing and difficult to remember. But . . . if you stick to turning it on to record and turning it off when done and then copying the file to your computer, this is a very capable device . . . otherwise, you will likely be frustrated. This is an OK digital voice recorder.

Well made, good sound quality!!
The media could not be loaded. Just got this Tam88 recorder about an hour ago. Tried it out just to see if it worked, and it worked great. Picked up the TV in the background well, and my voice was clear and everything said could be heard. Charged it for a minute, and seemed to be fully charged out of the box. Only problem so far was it took 5 minutes to get the lanyard holder on. (Not a big deal, had to get out some mini screw drivers to get it through, lol.) So far, the sound quality is good and seems to be good quality. Doesn't feel like it would break easily like I thought it would for the price.

Terrible! Do not purchase!!!
I tried to give 0 stars but it won’t allow me. The fast forward/rewind/delete instructions does not work. Connecting to a new model laptop? NOT! Tried connecting to my Apple lap top, it did not connect. There’s no actual name for the device if you wanted to search for solutions on the internet. Because I am unable to delete, I literally listening for hours to old recordings to get to the last recording. Never forgot the last recording because the battery died. Earphones and charger uses the same port. Terrible.

While it works, the instructions and sound quality aren’t great and the voice activation is sketchy
I was surprised when I received what could be a pretty complicated device and no included instructions. The pictures on the product listing are different from what I received. There is no printed “On/Off” near the switch. The slide switch has “On-Off-Play” stamped into the button with no offset color. It’s very small and difficult to read. The two smaller buttons on either side are “+” and “-”. Use a magnifying glass - I’m not kidding - to see which one is which. The voice activation works. To set the device to record only when it detects a voice, slide the power button to on and while the red light is on, press the “-” button. The listing says that it takes 45dB to trigger the voice activation. While that’s probably correct, 45dB is louder than you think. This will not activate for a whisper. The sound quality isn’t great but I guess that’s offset by the fact that it can store up to 1536 hours. 128GB divided by 1536 hours divided by 60 minutes divided by 60 seconds is 23.1 kbps so you’re not going to get great quality sound. If there’s a way to change the sample rate to improve sound quality, I haven’t found it.The Time Stamp function is easy to use. Just connect the device to your computer via the USB cable and run the Time Stamp function. You must do this prior to making any recordings or the recordings will have the factory (i.e., incorrect) time stamp.

Doesn't feel sturdy, poor audio quality
This digital voice recorder comes in a small hard box and is packed neatly. Even though the presentation is nice, the device itself doesn't feel very premium. For the price of $50 at the time of receiving this item, it's quite overpriced. I tried out the audio quality and left it on overnight on the low power settings, and it didn't record much. When I video chatted on my phone, it did not capture the audio even though I was speaking quite loud and my phone was a speaker too. This was the case with the device out in the open, if you had this hidden away or in a pocket, I assume it would not capture much. I played back the quality of the recording and it's pretty abysmal. I was kind of shocked how bad it was, it sounds very low quality, but enough to understand what is being said. I would only buy this if it was half off or less, otherwise, I'd look for another brand.
