I saw this after ordering a Google battery outdoor camera and thought, that's a point, what if someone knocks it off or steals it? What I didn't realise was the camera already comes with a similar chain but with a screw attachment rather than a thumb dial. The Google supplied chain is a better option for me because, it's white, and, it's a flush screw meaning the thief has to find it then get out a screwdriver and unscrew it. Whereas on this item it's an easy thumb dial device. That's obviously only going to take the owner just 5 seconds to unscrew it from the camera versus 10 seconds with a screwdriver using the Google supplied lanyard. Once every 2 to 3 months to charge the camera isn't a big deal for me, but with the Google lanyard it does make it harder for a thief that doesn't know how the camera attaches and that they need a screwdriver. For some people this may be fine, others, like me, not so much. Where I think this works is when your camera is out of theft reach and you need to use a ladder to get to it. Having thumb dial is going to be handy in this situation.
