Time cutter. Reliable, eliminates constant time consuming process to change and adjust dies.
I have three sets of dies, of three different calibers, and have these installed on each die. this insert and lock ring is a one piece tool. On a single stage lee press, it takes about a minute to remove one die and install a new one. And no tools involved. Takes 1/4 turn to lift one die out of the press, and another 1/4 turn to install a different one. Once you install this on a die, drop it into the press, turn1/4turn to lock insert and die into the press, adjust your die in the insert to required dims as you would with ordinary inserts, tighten the set screw, and you are ready to go. You never have to set the die depths again, just 1/4 turn, lift die out, drop next die in,1/4 turn to lock in, and u r good to go. Once each die is set up and adjusted, no more time lost adjusting each die every time you change it.

Great tool for the right application
I use the Lock-Ring eliminator with a Lee Hand Press. I agree that using these with a bench mounted press may be overkill, but on the plus side once you seat the die and lock it down, it will not back unless you want it to..The L-R eliminator's function really comes through with the hand press. The regular bushings allow the dies to easily back, affecting your settings. When using the L-R eliminator the die is rock solid. I can pay less attention to what my hand may be doing to the die setting and focus on the task.So for peace of mind on your bench mounted press, these are great. For working a hand press, I'd consider them critical. Each pair of L-R eliminators comes with a hex wrench so I have extras, which is nice. I keep a wrench with each set of dies and one in my kit I bring to the range to work up loads. That way, I always have the necessary tool to work with them if needed. But honestly, I only need to reset them if I am changing something in my load for a caliber.

Great not worrying about changing die depth settings
More expensive than the bushings with the friction lock, but well worth the price difference. In my opinion, the friction lock on these and the non-bushing dies work well enough if you're careful when installing them, removing them, handling them and storing them. I prefer not to worry that the die setting might be moved from careless handling. Torque the cap screw and the depth setting isn't going anywhere until the cap screw is loosened. This is particularly important to me for my application. I put together a minimalist shooting range reloading kit so I can develop WAY off the load chart ammo at the bench. That means I'll be lugging the dies to the range and back, and I'll be frequently swapping the dies into the Lee Hand Loader while outdoors at the shooting bench. I need the convenience and peace of mind that comes from rock solid die settings so my fussy attention to detail can be used for the loads under development and not the dies.
