Almost perfect replacement on my '99 CRV
I bought my '99 CRV used about 6 years ago, and thought I would forever have to deal with the rear tailgate closing and bumping me in the butt. But Amazon sent me an e-mail message featuring this item. The price was reasonable, so I ordered it. When I went to install it, the fit was good, but not perfect. No problem on the end that attaches to the car body. The end that attaches to the bottom of the door has a flange bend that is supposed to conform to the shape of the inner door. It didn't on mine. I was able to tighten down the two bolts that hold the part to the door, but they can't tighten down enough to make the part conform to the shape of the door and therefore they don't tighten all the way in. They do appear to be tight enough to hold permanently, and the part works great holding the door open until I want to close it.

Almost too strong
Easy to remove the old part, and the replacement fit perfectly. With a socket wrench it only took 5 minutes. The unit pushes the door all the way open, fairly strongly, so hold the door as it opens if there's anything in the way because otherwise the door will hit it.Very happy with the replacement.
