Concerns about packaging
The strings were delivered the next day. I was a bit concerned as the strings were not in the individual blue sleeves so I wrote to Augustine who responded as follows."The strings you received are authentic. We discontinued coloring the ends in 2005 for two reasons, first, the process added no sonic advantage and added to cost, second, the coloring process required the strings to be exposed to air longer which the coloring dyes dried. This increased the strings' exposure to air with accelerates tarnishing. In 2010 we began producing all Blue, Red, Black, Gold, Regal/Blue, and Imperial/Red sets in the new packaging you received. The reduces the number of packaging pieces from 14 to 5, significantly reducing waste and dramatically cutting down on the plastic we use. With the three envelopes, however, you still have the opportunity to save strings if you do not change them all at once. We also use paper that is a blend of FSC renewable eucalyptus pulp and post-consumer recycled paper. We know of no other string manufacturer who does this. "Good service from the supplier.

Only lasted 44 days
I ordered a set of these strings to fit on to my old guitar while my younger (and far better) guitar was being repaired, and put them onto my old guitar on 1st September. I must say that they made the old “orange box” sound better than it has done for years. As my new guitar was repaired almost immediately I only played the old one perhaps five times, and it spent the rest of its time hanging up in the living room. The 4th (D) string snapped, while it was hanging up, on 15th October. All the strings were tuned to concert pitch by means of an electronic gizmo. As the string snapped somewhere between the first and fourth fret I cannot even move the string down and refix it, and so it has lasted precisely 44 days. At the most it can’t possibly have been played for more than six hours, and probably only for less than half that time. That is simply an unacceptable period for guitar strings to last – they’re not even properly played in yet!

I am not an expert and could possible be that ...
I am not an expert and could possible be that is partially my fault but I have found extremely difficult to string my guitar with this product. Eventually one string snapped while tuning while another ones did snap after few days. Also the strings wire was coming off from the edge at the bridge point which caused a problem. It did take over a week for the guitar to maintain the right tune while playing it but I guess that this might be normal. I don't think that I will be purchasing this product again simple because I have been using cheaper strings that have been much easier to fit and have snapped after months of strumming.

Nice full sound
Always felt that the “G” string on the make I used was slightly dull. This is not the case with these Augustine strings. Only been on my guitar for a month but still good. I only expect my strings to last three months before I re-string. So looking good so far.

Classical delight.
First time I have researched for myself rather than ask in a shop. Very pleased. Easy on the fingers. Lovely tone.

Top Quality & Great Sounding
Great quality and took a while to "play in" so don't change your classical strings the day of a gig! Now they sound really superb and I will be buying these in future.

Blue Tonic
Genuine Augustine strings gladly received and well packaged. The expected blue ends where present - although no tips are given as to which end they go, (viz: bridge or peg!). As good as what I used to buy at the local music shop before it wandered off.
