A good 1st Meccano set
My pre-teen son likes this Meccano set. Some of the configurations are difficult to assemble on his own at his skill level.

Definitely not for kids with short attention spans
I thought it was a bit trying to assemble. My child lost interest very quickly despite being having built several of similar projects. The stickers fell off after about a week.If you are going to build this I would advise making sure you have either a big space to spread the parts out or an storage container big enough for the car as it can get very frustrating to try and bend some of the pieces into place

Quite difficult for an adult to assemble
This is quite complex even for an adult reasonably skilled at assembling stuff. No way a kid can put this together.

Pull-back is JUNK
Wow! Cheap cheap cheap. The pull-back motor broke internally after one run. My son had LEGO pull-backs that he’s been abusing for almost two years now and show zero signs of wear/slowing down. The LEGOs even seem to have an internal fail-safe for when someone pulls back too far, so that the gears aren’t damaged. The car was a fun challenge to build, and it’s neat to look at, but if you’re looking for pull-back action, stick with LEGOs.
