Bought one for my sister’s wedding gift. She had it on her registry. Was great fun tried before giving to her.Bought a second for a friend and it didn’t work at all. Tried a few sets of batteries but never worked. Didn’t give gift until after return period ended. 😞UPDATEtried one more set of batteries and flipped the switch circled in pic and it works. I bought two of these; one to give at a company white elephant gift exchange party, and another to give to a friend as a gag giftMy co-workers and my friend both got a big kick out of this clever gadget. (I installed batteries before wrapping the gifts so that the useless box would be operational as soon as they unwrapped it.)This gadget is quite amusing. As soon as you click the switch, the box opens partially for just a second, while this plastic armature protrudes and bumps the switch, turning it off. It does this very quickly, which is part of the amusement. Turn it on, and "CLICK!: it quickly shuts itself off! That's ALL it does! Thus, the reason it's called a Useless Box! The box does have a little bit of space inside it, so you could store small items like jewelry or keys in it if you really wanted to.If you've got a friend or loved one who's maybe a bit nerdy or has a good sense of humor, this gadget would make the perfect gag gift.

I bought this Calary Useless Box as a gift for my boss and it was a huge hit! All the guys at work played with it all day. He finally took it to his office to hide it. The end of the day he said the batteries were dead. To be fair my family played with it for 5 days before i gave it to him.The box is very easy to use. You simply press the PUSH button and a finger pops up to turn off the button. The box then automatically shuts down. It is very entertaining and funny to watch. I box that should not be fun but is.Overall, I would highly recommend the Calary Useless Box to anyone who is looking for a hilarious and unique gift. It is a great value for the money and a guaranteed way to make someone laugh

This is hilarious and I think I had a lot more fun with it than my brother (the unimpressed gift recipient). For being a nonsense item it is great quality and works very well.

I purchased this as a gag gift for my wife's birthday. It arrived looking okay, well packaged and all. But after installing batteries (and yes they were fresh!), it would do nothing. I know enough electronics that I will be able to diagnose and repair it -- but I should not need to do this. And, needless to say, it did spoil the moment.Buyers should expect that they may need to tinker with it in order for it to work. And since there are choices on Amazon to get this, you might want to look at others.

Works well. Battery not included. Comes in (very needed!) specialty styrofoam to avoid breaking the switch.Since this is basically a gag gift, it's a shame it has "Useless Box" printed right on the front.
