Love this series!
"He smiled at me. It was the kind of smile that blazed a trail from your heart to your mind and popped into your head the next time you wondered why you put up with a man who made you want to punch things."The second book in the outstanding Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews, White Hot, brings UF Fans another perfectly paced plot, and an even sweeter dollop of romance!I'm so glad I decided to jump on this series. The first book, Burn for Me, had been on my TBR for a while simply because Ilona Andrews is an autobuy author for me, but it wasn't until recently when I kept seeing the books around everywhere that it moved its way up to the top of my list. The series has been relaunched by the publishers with the final* two books - White Hot and Wildfire - being released very close together in June/July 2017.And oh my gosh, what a book! White Hot is an apt title! I thought the storyline in the first book was pretty perfect, but I somehow managed to enjoy this one even more (and that had absolutely nothing to do with Connor Rogan. Nope, nothing at all). What I especially loved was finding out more about everybody. I suppose the authors were busy setting up the world building and the two main characters in book one, and now that that's out there, in White Hot we got to explore other areas such as Nevada's fabulously wacky family. We also got insight into Rogan's time in the military, which helped counteract the slightly bad first impression he made to both Nevada and us readers in book one. And there are also a few new characters that pop up in this one that I feel will be sticking round. The story, while new, is also a continuation of events from Burn for Me. I'm in spiky territory even trying to find something to tell you about it without spoilers, so I won't bother. The other part to these books which is just as important is the romance, which sees some interesting developments in White Hot. I think it's safe to say if your liked book one, you'll love book two.Overall, I don't think I could have enjoyed this more. I look forward to re-reading it again someday.* I believe this to be a trilogy, but would be very happy to be wrong about that!

I Love This Series!
I really enjoyed book 1 of this series, but this book takes it up to the next level. Once the characters and world were established in book 1 meant that this book could be filled with plot.Nevada and Mad haven’t spoken in 2 months. Nevada has been spending time learning about her magic. The book starts with Nevada taking a step along a path, she’s not quite seeing clearly enough. She decides that a child’s life hangs in the balance so she has to act, even if it exposes her abilities to the world. She also takes on another case, which causes her to run into Mad again. Once again they end up working together. The case is complex and tied into the conspiracy that they exposed in book 1.Once again the plot had me turning page after page, even when I should have been turning the light out to go to sleep. I was lost in their world and didn’t want to escape. We learn much more about the way the magical world works in this book and it’s fascinating. The world building and plot alone would make this a 4 star book, but it’s the characters that lift it into the 5 star category. They seem so real that they almost step off the page. I became so invested in the Baylor family and their happiness that I almost forgot they weren’t real.I really do love Nevada. She’s a fascinating person. She’s principled, strong and determined. She is loyal to a fault and can be ruthless to protect those she cares about. She can be calculating at the same time as genuinely wanting to do the right thing. She has so many layers to her personality, and that is what makes her feel real. This is a great book, and I highly recommend it.

Worth the Wait
Worth the very long wait. This is the second of a trilogy and it is very much part of a bigger story, I am not sure that it would work as a stand alone, it references the first book quite a lot and it leaves a fair amount of threads hanging for the book. Due to publishing priorities we had to wait three years for this second book. Luckily the third instalment will be published in 2 months. So why is this book worth 5 stars. It has humour, excitement and the usual excellent world building that is a key part of the authors work. I like the characters, even the secondary ones. The dialogue is sharp and it has one of the best heist scenes ever! The one thing that surprised me a little was that there was a quite explicit sex scene included, more explicit than I am used to from these authors. I can only assume that this is because this is written for a different publisher who perceives the market for these books as different from the Kate Daniels series. That must also be the explanation for the awful cover art. I buy these on Kindle as I am not sure I could face being seen with the paperback in my hand! None of this detracts from the excellent qualities of this story line.If you haven't read Burn for Me then go find it and buy it, you won't regret starting this series.

An addictive continuation in a fun paranormal-romance series.
White Hot is the second book in the Hidden Legacy series, from husband and wife co-author team, Ilona Andrews. After reading the first book, Burn for Me I was so glad that I already had the sequel ready to read, and as with the first one, I could barely put this down. At the risk of sounding too dramatic, I think I might have a new author to add to my list of favourites. You should bear in mind that if you don't enjoy the romance from the first book then you're not going to like this series. However, this romance is one of my favourites and what makes this series so addictive in my eyes. I like my romances to be super angsty and while the angst took a back seat I found myself rooting for them even more which is something which never happens. Though I finished reading this last night and have read some other stuff this morning I cannot stop thinking about it and about what's going to happen next.

And it just keeps getting better
LOVED this book! And I just bought the third in this series so this will be a short review! The characters are awesome! They jump off the page and make you want them to be real! The magic system in a similar universe in interesting and holds together after the first book. The wold building is everything you would expect from this wonderful writing team and the characters continue to grow and make you cheer them on.Five stars is not enough!

I enjoyed this book just like I enjoy all the books from this writing duo.....
The world in which this series, Hidden Legacy, is set is very much like our own. Except that in this world there are humans that come from families that have magical skills and abilities. Hundreds of years ago a serum had been invented that brought forth latent magic that existed in certain humans but the serum was eventually destroyed. After the magic was awakened though it became part of the genetic code for those families and eventually highly magical families became “Houses” and the ones with the greatest magical ability became known as Primes. These families have developed their own aristocracy within the human world and they protect their bloodlines with rabid ferocity. In Burn for Me it was disclosed that Nevada Baylor was a truthseeker but she thought that her entire skill set was that she was able to detect whether or not a person was telling the truth. Nevada’s mom has always tried to keep her children’s magical skills a secret and drilled it into her kids that they needed to hide their burgeoning talents. Although her mother had her reasons (which we learn more behind those reasons in this story) it had left Nevada with a handicap, a handicap that had nearly killed her on several occasions. In White Hot Nevada comes into her own, she has been practicing her magic and has become quite proficient. Not only can she tell if someone is telling the truth, she can force them to tell her the truth. It was fascinating to see how the Authors developed this talent and made it complex and fascinating. In the previous installment, I was shocked at the end because Rogan and Nevada did not end up together and I had so desperately wanted that. The attraction was there but Nevada wanted to be more than a conquest to Rogan. Since their separation, Nevada had pined for Rogan but was determined that she did not need or want him. Silly woman! I loved her family through all of this because they had been teasing Nevada without mercy about when “the wedding” was going to be and stuff liked that. Her family was written perfectly and I could see their interactions clearly, it was most entertaining. They could see what she was too stubborn to look at closely. There was something between her and Rogan that shouldn’t be denied. After taking a case that was maneuvered by Augustine, Nevada and Rogan were brought together most unexpectedly. Turns out they were both seeking answers to the same crime and although Nevada was not interested in it, her client decided that he wanted to collaborate with Rogan. Rogan had information and resources that would help the investigation into who was responsible for the murder of the legal team of House Forsberg of which her client’s wife was an employee. Rogan also had a personal stake in this investigation as he lost some employees when the meeting went sideways. Together this trio must overcome some great odds as it becomes clear that there is mastermind pulling some serious strings. The same mastermind that was responsible for the death and carnage from the first book. In this installment, there is more information as Nevada and Rogan begin to slowly discover that there is a conspiracy that goes deeper than they ever could have considered.I enjoyed this book just like I enjoy all the books from this writing duo. It is not just the storyline or romance that endears me to their work, although the romance was the perfect combination of steamy and snarky for me. It is the characters that keep me coming back for more. They are complex and well written. Even the supporting characters are fleshed out and memorable. Ilona Andrews writes such great characters that they could do a spin-off series that follows each character, supporting included, and it would be fantastic. I love the interactions between all these characters; it feels real every single time. Another great installment in this trilogy!
