Excellent replacement NVR drive
Bought this after the drive in my NVR died.Installed this and it has performed flawlessly in the couple months I've had it. FWIW, this make and model is widely regarded as the best for security camera recording as far as the research I've done online.

Well made
I installed this in my security camera NVR to replace the existing 2 terabyte disc. The software formatted it quickly and it immediately began recording. I’ve done a couple of playbacks with no issues. It’s now completely full and the overwrite process has not experienced any issues.

Back in business
I was not able to playback on my home surcurity cameras. I purchased the disk, it has more storage, little to no noise and has been working properly.

Bad drive -- never again!
ERRORS, ERRORS, ERRORS! This drive is unacceptable, and I would not recommend. It's a MECHANICAL drive (not SSD), which means it has a floating head that reads data on a platter (like a record player). Thus it needs to be PADDED and protected. Nope.... got it in a plastic bag after probably being tossed around in a mailtruck, which damaged the drive or crashed the drive heads. Unbelievable that there is no common sense or policy when it comes to these drives. And I notice mine is not the only review to report this. So why hasn't anything been done yet about it? I got the same drive 6 years ago and it certainly wasn't like this. It was perfect and is still going strong. But I guess times have changed. I would not recommend buying these at all... they just don't care anymore.

Noisy but reliable.
Performs well but it is noiser than smaller capacity drives. Seems like all the bigger drives are like that. It's the loudest part of my NVR now.

Quality as expected for WD drives.
These WD drives have never let me down. I upgraded from the WD 2TB drives in my RAID 5 array to these 4TB drives to give me more video storage space for my video surveillance system. No issues so far.
