Purchased when I moved into an apartment that used these fobs for entry and needed to make a copy of the fob for my spare set. Building wanted to charge $50+ for a fresh set and I said no way. This works like a charm, super easy to use and was able to set up in 2 minutes. Highly recommend - much better price than having to get someone else to do it.

I have fobs that are 125khz passive unencrypted. I have been able to copy them with instafobs at home depot and lowes. I decided to get this because I can get multiple copies made at home for less than I'd pay at the store for one. Or so I thought. I got it and tried it immediately. It did not read my fob at all. I tried new batteries as youtube videos said it was sensitive to voltage. I even checked the voltage on the batteries, 1.59v each, or 3.18v where this needs a minimum of 3v. So not the problem. I decided to check and see if it could read the fobs and cards that came with it, even though they are blank. It read the fobs, but not the cards. I started an amazon return thinking it was defective and got another one sent to me. I tried this one out and it has the exact same problem. Do not buy this. It does not work. There are videos on youtube about people with the same unit and the same problem.

I don't care what some other reviews have said, this thing has saved me a ton! I was able to make duplicate access fobs for my family to get in the gate, id card access for my friends pool, and other uses. I was skeptical, but surprised how many successful times I've had with it

Yes, it’s terribly cheap-looking. It’s design is so simplistic it seems counterintuitive to use it for tech. It’s a bit of a crap shoot, too - the first one I got did not work at all. But the second one was the real deal. Reads and writes both cards and fobs accurately and reliably. I persisted because the alternative was to pay $120 to the HOA for another keycard to access the dumpster, and I’m so glad I did. Someone else posted this detail too: the one that works beeps 3 times when you turn it on. The first defective one I got only beeped twice, so I’m confirming that this may be a good way to tell if you’ve got a dud. In the end, it was well worth the hassle - not ideal, but worth the money I saved.

A couple didn’t work but I allegedly made 4 copies off of my original key absolutely no problem.
