Quality and convenience
I like the fact that I can place 5 cds in the tray, press play, and enjoy music for several hours. The unit is also a good looking addition to my audio system. All in all, I am very satisfied with this product. I would recommend it to anyone looking to add convenience as well as flexible features to their audio systems. This is a well made piece of audio equipment. Yamaha has always made quality components, and this unit is no exception. Good job Yamaha, good job.

Sounds purchase
Happy with purchase so far. Sound quality seems pretty good. Longevity remains a question.

Playback quality of sound very good for an inexpensive CD player.
The remote control is almost impossible to read without a magnifying glass. The line of sight for the remote control is a bit flaky. It also requires a direct line of sight with the player to operate. The tray cannot be rotated when inserting CDs and one has to be careful when inserting the back two CDs. This is the first CD player we have owned that the tray cannot be rotated. The USB playback works better than I expected and the sound quality of music stored on a flash drive sounds much better than I thought it would

Avoid like the plague!
The first high-end amp I was able to afford back in the 1970's was a Yamaha. I have been a dedicated YAMAHA fan ever since but after this most recent purchase I will likely never buy a YAMAHA product again. I bought this as a replacement for another CD player/changer I had been gifted. Initially the player seemed fine until I learned it lacked a CD sone shuffle feature and then began eating CD's and destroying them. It now does not even turn on. A totally worthless piece of crap. It may be time for YAMAHA to reconsider its cheap labor practices. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!

Yamaha quality
So far so good. I join other reviewers in complaining that the remote cannot be read without a flashlight and magnifying glass; but the functions will be memorised in time. Tray is opening and closing reliably. I am a fussy listener, and the deck, with DAC, seems to operate flawlessly. No skipping or hiccups.

I have no regrets about spending the higher price over the other brands available.
This CD player was to replace a Yamaha player that worked well for 13 years. The new one came well packaged and swapped out easily. The sound quality is clean and the remote control is easier to use than the old one. The size in the product description is for the box it came in. Actual measurements are 17 1/8” W 4 3/8” H and 15 3/4” D not counting the space you need for the plugs.

Metal case
I have had 3 Yamaha 5 CD Changers before this, the last being 12 or 13 years ago. I quit buying them because they were short lived. The reason I think is because I have a heavy Amp and the earlier models were made with plastic cases and I think the weight of my Amp was too Heavy for the Plastic case causing it to buckle down against the Table as it turned. But now I am 78 Years Old and tired of changing CD's all the time, so I decided to get another Yamaha and much to my surprise the case is made from metal. And the sound it as good as my Marantz single CD Player. I have High Hopes for this Unit. And for the remote, I'm not bothered by it, I can read it with my reading glasses. So I won't be taking off and Stars

Shuffle vs Random
The sound quality was good. Appears to be well made. But I mostly use the "shuffle" function when playing CD's to mix the play between several different artists while I'm listening. This unit has a "Random" function which plays only one CD at a time, in random order of that album. Not what I was looking for. If shuffle is not a priority, this is probably a good unit.
