Ryobi P591 18V One+ 18 Gauge Offset Shears

Why have I waited so long to make this purchase? My son has a Milwaukee product at a much higher price. This product is equal to the Milwaukee product in my opinion.

I needed to cut molded steel panels for a carport structure that I am building to initially put over a jacuzzi and later use as a cover for a travel trailer. I have two other similar steel carport structures that didn't require any cutting, so didn't have a previous need. I have multiple tinsnips, but none of them worked on the molded portions of the sheets and even the flat portions were challenging and concerning for the control of the cutoff and the razor-like edges of the two pieces. The Ryobi shears made short order of both the curved pieces that I needed to cut and the long straight that I wound up cutting for a short side. Worth every penny, and is a great addition to my Ryobi tool set!

I use it to cut metals for my project in the garden.

Damn box had more tape on it the the package it was shipped in. had to have been a return, lucky for me, the thing works perfect and the tool itself is fine.

This offset shears make it so easy.

Does very well on thin materials. If the sheet has bends/creases the jaws may not open wide enough.

I just got this a few minutes ago and of course had to try it. I bought it for cutting pieces of corrugated metal roofing so I tried it on a piece of 29 gauge roofing. Going lengthwise it sailed through it like butter. It was easy to control and did not have a tendency to go in one direction or another. It held the line exactly as I had marked it. Going crosswise (across the stiffening ribs) took a little more effort but was still easier and much much quicker than mechanical snips. It is also much quieter than using a circular saw with a metal cutting blade. I will try to post another review when I have more than a few minutes of use.

Takes a mintue to learn how to use. Once mastered I would not live without. Just cutting a few sheets of metal it is worth investment. Light and easy to use. Much better than tin snips.
