This was an unexpected hit. We saw this book while waiting in the emergency room - my grand daughter loved it (kept her entertained looking at the photos while waiting for the MD). Turned what could have been a scary time into a positive experience. We ordered a copy next day - it has been fun having her share the photos she likes best with her Mom, and tell her how she first saw it in the emergency room while visiting grandma's - did I mention that she is 5 years old?

Join the Fun - Cow Parade New York!
This spring in New York, fiberglass cows started appearing on the sidewalks, in public plazas, in the parks... one by one at first, then -boom- an explosion of cows all over town. It's Cow Parade New York, a summer-long art project sure to make even the most jaded New Yorker smile! The cows, decorated by different artists in a variety of styles, bring some much needed fun and color to our city streets. The Cow Parade New York book explores the art installation, with details about the decoration and location of about 300 of the cows. You can use the book as a guide to find out where the cows are located... or hold on to it as a keepsake to remember your favorite cows once they are removed this fall. The photos are high-quality, and as a special "bovine bonus," the book features some light-hearted cow trivia. Put the Cow Parade New York book on your coffee table, and let the fun begin!

A lifetime of memories
I took my grandchildren to NYC to "see the cows". They were enthralled. This book will keep the memories of their weekend in the City fresh throughout their lifetimes. The views of these whimsical bovines in situ serve as a mirror of the new milennium, with New York's fresh image as a family friendly city for current residents, old New Yorkers like myself who grew up within its five boroughs, and the millions of visitors who make New York their destination. I hope that many of the cows remain protected in the City, so that my grandchildren can bring their grandchildren to enjoy their zaniness. But if they disappear, this book has, at least, captured the moment.

THE COWS CAN STAY WITH US IN 2001!
I HAVE LOVED THE COWPARADE ALL SUMMER HERE IN NYC. FINDING NEW ONES AND TAKING THEIR PHOTOS (WITH OR WITHOUT KIDS ON THEM) HAS BEEN FUN! NOW ALONG WITH THE COWPARADE BOOK I CAN REMEMBER THE COWS INTO 2001 WITH THE COWPARADE CALENDER! NICE COLOR PHOTOS AND ARTISTS' STORIES GIVE YOU MORE INSIGHT TO OUR SUMMER BOVINES!

LETS HAVE MORE BEAUTIFUL COWS......
I love the idea of this book and its photographs. I do not agree with some reviewers who are disappointed that the book does not have all the cows listed and their locations in NYC. I think the idea of this book is to raise curiosity. Discovering them in different urban setting is part of the fun and challenge.I recommend this book whole heatedly.

Cow Parade New York Misses a Few
I like this book, but am disappointed that it left out some of the cows that I saw around New York! I can't believe it put SEVERAL 'taxi' themed cows and a couple of 'zebra' themed cows in and left out one of the most creative cows--the 'Grand Piano Cow' (at 3rd and 49th). I hope there is another book that is complete! I saw the cows in Chicago, Salzburg (Austria), the Pigs in Cincinnati and the Horses in Lexington, Kentucky. I hope they all eventually publish books as it would make a neat collection.

Wonderful artwork.
This book is really nice. For those who managed to see the cow parade in NY it is a must keepsake for memories. It is a shame that many of the cows did not seem to make it to the book though, as some of your favourites might be missing. For those who did not see the parade its still a great book, shows imagination of the artists. However I think the people who picked the cows from the initial proposals could have been done without some of the duplication. I found the book lacking in explanation of how the cows got there, why, and where they all went so quickly. Such information would have been more useful that how dairy herds started in NY state! Further investigation uncovered that the cows went on auction for charity (would have been nice to know that). It also revealed that this is not the same company that did the Zurich parade, those guys are rather cross and suing the company who did the NY one for stealing their ideas and cow models!
