New Dimensions in Photo Processes: A Step-by-Step Manual for Alternative Techniques (Alternative Process Photography)

I bought this as a refresher, I am currently working on my BFA and this has helped immensely!

This new fifth edition is the new authority for alternative photographic processes. This beautiful book is THE one source for all of the historic processes as well as more modern methods. Each chapter is a different process described in detail by an expert in that particular method. Each chapter starts with an excellent example of a finished work of art. The book is not only updated but it has new content as well. It is all color now on high quality paper and high resolution illustrations. Even if you have an earlier edition you will want this new edition. The price is fair considering the vast amount of information in the book. This book is a serious work that will be the authority on the subject for a very long time into the future. This book was obviously a huge task to put together and photographers who are interested in creating art in the changing world of photography should thank Ms. Blacklow for her efforts.

It is very exciting for me to see the new fifth edition with a major editing and the beautiful step-by-steps now done in color. It contains many more examples (fine art reproductions) of some incredible cutting edge artists to encourage idea making, and adds new procedures that I will be reading about more in depth. With the resurgence of interest in vintage and early processes in fine art and crafting - this book will be of interest to a diverse group of artists both experienced and first-time experimenters.

This is one of the only books on the subject of alt process photography that gives concise step by step directions with photos and tips along the way. This is a go to for me for any alt process I need a refresher on or want to learn, its very thorough and easy to follow along with in the studio. This new edition has a ton of updated content and added content as well, but stays true to its easy to follow flow.

Clearly written, in depth, excellent resource and should be a "must" purchase for every printmaking studio. Also great resource for artists interested in collage or using photographic/found imagery into their work.

This book is amazing, easy to follow and lots of fun.

Fabulous book a must have for alternative enthusiasts

Expensive - and had hoped for clear guidance. Some of the explanations are garbled and a few of the transfer techniques don’t seem to work at all. Frustrating to (try to) follow instructions to the letter and then get such poor outcomes.
