Product did a great job on my rusted car wheels
The Evapo Rust Gel performed just as advertised and did an excellent job of removing 13 years of rust off the steel wheels on my RAV4. I was looking for a product that I could apply to the wheels without removing them and that would improve the look of the wheels significantly. The Evapo Rust Gel seemed to fit the bill. I followed the instructions which include using a coarse sandpaper to remove loose surface rust where it was thickest. I applied the gel using a small paint brush. It went on easily and stayed on the vertical rusted surfaces as adevertised. You can see the results from the attached photos. Some other reviews said that the container was small for the price, but I was able to do all fouir wheels and have some left over. I also read reviews that said it was hard to apply, but using the paintbrush worked very well. Also, I saw some complaints about having to sand, but that step is clearly in the instructions and it is necessary. For heavily rusted areas, you need to sand first to get the best results. I didn't spend a lot of time sanding, just enough to gert the loose rust off. The Gel removed rust off more lightly rusted areas without any sanding. These wheels also had some very deeply rusted areas. While the Evapo Gel did not remove all the rust from these areas, it still made even those areas look much better. If I keep the car for a while, the rust will come back, but I will order this product again. It's money well spent.

JUNK!
Wish I could give this stuff NO STARS! I was fooled by the pic and didn't pay attention to 8oz in description. This is a TINY bottle, it's expensive AND it does not work! At least not for me. My bottle was NOT a gel. I shook the container well, opened it and poured some into a tray. It was clear like water, same viscosity also. Smells nasty. Then I shook it again it felt weird like something was still in the bottle. I sueezed it over the tray and this white glop began oozing out. It felt like soaked cotton. I literally pulled it out with my fingers, puzzled. This was NOT gel! Looked just like one of the review pictures. Was I supposed to pull this cotten out? What is this? Nothing on label about it. I had a couple lightly rusted Starrett tools. I put them in the liquid and covered them in the cotton goop. Left them soaking over 7 hours. They still have rust on them! I estimate it took off about 15%. The majority of the rust did not dissolve and their was not a lot of heavy rust. The tools were submerged. Have to try something else! This Evapo-Rust is: 1. WAY WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get! Picture is misleading! 2. GOOP or soaked cotton in bottle. IT IS NOT GEL you can apply with a brush! DOES NOT cling to vertical surfaces as stated. Mine was clear liquid that looked like water and smelled horrible. 3. CRC <- Decent name, I love their Brake Cleaner but not Evapo-Rust. I expected more from CRC. Didn't work for me! Will never buy again and I DO NOT recommend it. I'm leary of buying any other CRC product.

Please READ this review!
This product does not have the expected consistency of a gel. When you get it, even if you shake it, it will remain more watery. This part is important: STIR the “gel” thoroughly—part of the thicker ingredients will still be clinging to the bottom of the container. With this done, it will still be a watery-paste, but it works! It actually works faster than the regular formulation. If you want to leave some if the age of the surface I recommend re-brushing the item every 15 minutes, so it doesn't settle in one area and to check the progress. Since I do want to retain some surface age, I will wipe and rinse the item throughly and let it dry to see the progress. It is a small bottle but it does go a long way towards many smaller projects.

Not cheap but it really works.
You can see by my before and after pics (before is underside and after is outer side) that the product really works. And you may think, as I did, that 8 ounces will go a long way. Not so. The gel is very dense, kind of a school glue or toothpaste consistency, so 8 ounces turns out to be a very small bottle. And because it's so thick it doesn't spread thinly, so you end up using quite a lot at once. Great product for small projects, but too expensive for a large one.

Yes, it is too thick - not recommended
The small bottle oozes the stuff out in clumps. You cannot brush it on without first doing a pizza dough like dance with the material... pulling and pushing it around... You end up wasting a lot of it... Like the other reviews say....Not a good medium for this purpose.. I did try it on 3 wrenches I had and the results were so-so. I have never used the liquid, so I cannot say if this is as good as it gets or if it was because I had trouble getting the gel to spread and fully cover the tools...I put them in a Stainless tray and using nitrile gloves, I worked the gel as best I could all over the wrenches, but I think the nature of the gel makes it so you don't get complete coverage. I'll try the liquid instead.

Sticky, stinky and easy
This was pretty easy. We had a rust stain in our sink from the iron stove eye cover. We had tried other products and were just about ready to give up. This was so cheap I decided to try it and I’m really glad we did. It’s a very tiny bottle but you only need a little for the area. I wasted some trying to figure out how to spread it around because it’s super sticky, almost like spreading a very old paste. We settled on using a piece of damp cloth from an old T-shirt. I applied it before work and then left for the day. (About 10-12 hrs). Came back and rinsed the stain away. I wiped the area with a hot rag a little because there was a slight residue and cleaned the sink with dawn. The products stinks so i didn’t really want to sit in the room with it but overall it worked great!

Worked well on surface rust on vintage mid century garden tables and chairs. Applied the gel and let it do its work. The product although effective was not really a gel it was too fluid the cling to vertical surfaces. The photos are after rust removal.
