Very happy with this projector
I was going to buy something cheaper but I ended up paying about $700 extra and going with this because we do some gaming.I don't use the included Android TV dongle, so this review is not relevant on that front. This is installed in a dedicated movie room receiving a signal from an Dolby Atmos receiver. We have an Xbox, a Switch, and main TV is supplied by a Google Chromecast.Interestingly, the Chromecast supplies a 4k signal no matter what the native quality is, so it always runs in 4k unless we are on a game.We really love this projector, it is so bright, we run it on eco mode all the time, and it's still bright enough to watch with the limited lighting on in the room. The picture is crisp, and with the vertical adjustment, it is really easy to get installed without using Keystone which reduces performance. We have it mounted on the ceiling. It starts up very quickly, however, with the connection it needs to make to the Chromecast, it's not really much faster than our old bulb-type projector, in the long run. It's just usable at full brightness faster. What I'm saying is, it starts up fast, but takes the same amount of time to connect. It does occasionally lose signal, but I cannot confirm where the source of that issue is. It reconnects in 15-20 seconds. Happens every couple days or so, could be the long cables, could be a bad connection, I don't know. It's not a major issue, and hasn't happened while gaming, only movies, so it may be a 4k transmission issue. It's very quiet. It is large for a projector in my experience, the box is about twice as large as our former projector. As for the value, I think it was worth it, I'm glad I bought it. That being said, I don't know how the other one I would have bought would have compared.I wish there were a few more settings like our old projector, but we haven't really needed to adjust anything. Maybe it's not the most perfect real life accurate color, but it's bright and vivid and awesome for watching movies and shows. And it seems like it makes Rocket League more responsive, that may be the low latency, I don't know, I'm not an expert.Very happy with this purchase, would buy again.

Perfect for Gaming, Movies, and Family Time
The media could not be loaded. We love this projector for gaming and movies! It provides a wonderful experience, whether we're playing Switch games like Super Smash Bros and enjoying fun family time, or my husband is immersed in Elden Ring on the PS5. He's especially impressed with how well it reveals dark details that he can't see on a monitor. The vibrant colors and lag-free performance make it a hit with everyone. We strongly recommend it to PS5 players. We also enjoy watching Netflix and Disney+ together. Setting up the Android TV dongle was super easy, just took 2-3 minutes. The lens adjustment is very easy to use, and the image quality is perfect. The built-in speaker is clear and loud, so we don't need any extra speakers. This is truly a perfect projector.

Full of flaws and failures
The media could not be loaded. Bought this for my home theater. Picture was great, but the message telling me to disable keystone and digital zoom for best quality could not be permanently dismissed despite being told I could hold "ok" for 2 seconds to do so. It would pop up every time the input or resolution would change. Contacted BenQ and was sent an advanced replacement. New unit fixed the message appearing, but after several days of use, it fails to turn on most of the time. Currently cannot get the projector to start at all. Also, both units will randomly switch audio modes from ARC to built in speakers for no reason. Waiting for a response from BenQ again. I wish I could return this thing but I'm past the return date. Do not waste $2300 on this garbage

Has a OVERSCAN of around 1 - 2 inches depending on size you set screen.......
Has a 1.5 inch over-scan problem, imagine having a light colored box around your entire projector vs just having the image to edges. This after searching online seems to be a flaw with DLP based projectors.I bought this and on day one the remote when hitting "projector menu" during some resolutions i.e. 1080p with 240hz the menu will show up for 1/10th of a second and dispersal......Just for good measures, this is not some issue with "auto keystone" or the keystone being off.....this is clearly how it was made and somehow they think people wont mind it. About the remote no telling whats wrong with it, i tried batteries then a brand new set and still you press button ONE time if you have higher refresh rate you cant access with the remote. So unless you would be happy with a border around your screen to bleed out a inch on all sides including with there "Good home' usb stick....it has it on there too so that rules out any setting with a PC.....I really wanted to love it, but for 2800.00+ Dollars having these issues is not something I'll put up with.

My first and easily the best projector I could have bought!
The BenQ X3100i is an awesome projector. It was easy to mount to my ceiling, has great brightness, and the clarity is truly amazing. While the black parts of images aren't as dark as on a TV, they are plenty dark and this projector with its speed is truly awesome for gaming! If you're thinking about it, just buy it! You won't be disappointed.

Phenomenal amazing projector could not ask for more.
What can I say? This projector is the best projector that I’ve seen I was caught between getting the Epson 50-50 but decided on this one because it’s a great gaming projector. I did not originally buy it for gaming. I bought it for watching movies and it had all of the features that I wanted like to be able to hook up a sound bar with HDMI instead of Bluetooth a dongle and then I bought a PlayStation five so I’m glad I bought the gaming projector as well if you were thinking about getting a projector, pull the trigger on this one you won’t regret it. Amazing amazing picture quality you will not be disappointed.
