Because I don't use my printer every day and needed desk space, I put the printer in a further away location and just unwind the long chord and connect as needed. Easy solution!

I got the 20ft version of this brand and a 10ft of another brand. This cable would be seen as plugged in by the computer, but would not allow the device on the other end to be recognized or communicated to. Additionally, when plugged in, my computer would immediately experience odd glitchy behavior until the USB cable was unplugged and the comp restarted. Although I did not test continuity myself before returning it, I suspect the cable was shorted internally. Luckily, it doesn't seem to have done any permanent damage. The other brand of cable purchased works flawlessly in the same setup. Steer clear of this one, at least the 20ft version.
